College Hoops Betting Cheat Sheet January 11-17

My College Basketball Betting picks for the week of January 11th to 17th concentrate on teams from the Big Ten, ACC and the Big 12.

Iowa battles Michigan State on Thursday, Jan. 14 in a huge Big Ten matchup. Iowa has climbed into the Top 25 while Michigan State has maintained a Top 5 presence throughout most of the season. Also on Thursday is a key battle between Washington and #6 Arizona. Then, on Saturday are multiple great games that make the Betting Cheat Sheet. Keep reading for my best ATS, Over/Under and Moneyline bets for the week!

College Basketball ATS Free Picks – Jan 11th – 17th

#23 Iowa at #5 Michigan State
When: Thursday, Jan. 14 at 7:00 pm ET

Analysis: The last time that these 2 teams met, on Dec. 29, 2015 in Iowa, the Hawkeyes pummeled the Spartans 83 to 70 as a -2.5 point favorite. 12 and 3 straight up Iowa has won 5 in a row and 9 out of its last 10 going into the week. The Hawkeyes are 7 and 5 ATS on the season. Denzel Valentine should play in this game. He didn’t play in that last one. Valentine’s presence should make all of the difference for the home team. I like Sparty to get revenge.

Pick: Michigan State

Ohio State at #3 Maryland
When: Saturday, Jan. 16 at 12:00 pm ET

Analysis: Ohio State is 11 and 6. The Buckeyes are 8-7-1 ATS to start the week. They battle Rutgers on Wednesday before taking on Maryland on Saturday. The Buckeyes beat Maryland 80 to 56 the last time that these two squared off. That was way back in January of 2015. Since that game, Ohio State guard DeAngelo Russell moved on to the NBA while the Terps’ backcourt of Melo Trimble and Rasheed Sulaimon has become arguably the best in the nation. Maryland is averaging a bit less than 78 points per game while holding their opponents to 60 points per. They should handle OSU at home.

Pick: Maryland

Texas Christian at #2 Kansas
When: Saturday, Jan. 16 at 2:00 pm ET

Analysis: It feels like a Rock Chalk Jayhawk year doesn’t it? Kansas’s only loss was 73 to 79 to Michigan State on Nov. 17. What you have to love about Rock Chalk is that they’re 10 and 3 ATS this season. TCU is 9 and 6 straight up and 5 and 4 ATS this season. The betting spread is going to be huge in this game, but it’s awfully tough not to love the Jayhawks. Expect Kansas to roll big time on Saturday.

Pick: Kansas

College Basketball Over/Under Game Total Picks – Jan 11th – 17th

Washington at #6 Arizona
When: Thursday, Jan. 14 at 9:00 pm ET

Analysis: Both of these squads love to run and gun. Washington averages a terrific 85.3 points per game. Because the Huskies only shoot 40% from the field and 31% from the three-point line, you have to figure that they’re taking a lot of shots during games. The Huskies give up 76.8 points per game. Arizona averages 81.6 points per game. The Wildcats have lost 2 in a row while working Kaleb Tarzcewski back into the starting line-up. Expect Arizona to run more at home than they did on their L.A. trip. The over is 7 and 1 in the Wildcats’ last 8 games.

Pick: Over

North Carolina State at #7 North Carolina
When: Saturday, Jan. 16 at 12:30 pm ET

Analysis: The total is 13 and 4 to the over, including being 7 and 2 to the over, in North Carolina games this season. The Wolfpack is an under team. North Carolina State games have gone 6 and 7 to the over and 1 and 3 to the over in NC State’s games this season. The Wolfpack’s last 2 games have both gone over. I’m expecting the Tar Heels’ style of play to lead to an over game in this ACC battle on Tobacco Road.  Pick: Over

Notre Dame at #10 Duke
When: Saturday, Jan. 16 at 2:00 pm ET

Analysis: Duke averages 88.1 points per game. The Blue Devils shoot 48% from the field and an unbelievable 38% from the three-point line. In home games, the over has gone only 5 and 4. That’s a key stat because the over is only 2 and 1 in Notre Dame’s away games. Expect this one to go over the total because Notre Dame will run when it has to. Against Duke in Cameroon, the Irish figure to have to run.

Pick: Over

College Basketball Straight Up Moneyline Picks – Jan 11th – 17th

#14 Iowa State at Kansas State
When: Saturday, Jan. 16 at 4:00 pm ET

Analysis: Iowa State is a very good team when the shots are falling. The Cyclones can stick with most teams in the Big 12 and are 2 and 0 ATS on the road this season. But Iowa State faces one of the top three-point defending teams in the nation.  The Wildcats allow 26% from the three-point line. Kansas State has lost 3 games in a row to start the week. All 3 losses occurred to ranked teams. One of the losses was a 10 point 76 to 86 loss on the road to Top 5 ranked Oklahoma as a +13 point dog. K-State can pull off the moneyline upset.

Pick: Kansas State

#11 Miami-Florida at Clemson
When: Saturday, Jan. 16 at 2:00 pm ET

Analysis: 13 and 1 Miami-Florida has been impressive this season. The Hurricanes average 82.8 points per game while shooting 49.7% from the field and 37.2% from the three-point line. The Canes allow 64.8 points per game. Miami has a tough road trip this week since the Hurricanes go against Virginia before facing Clemson on Saturday. Clemson has turned things around. Since losing 3 in a row, the Tigers have beaten Florida State, Syracuse on the road, and Louisville to start the week. The Tigers’ D allows 62 points per game. I like Clemson to beat Miami-Florida as a slight favorite on Jan. 16.

Pick: Clemson
