We had to wait until the Elite Eight for the first marquee March Madness matchup. The bluest of blue, in tradition and faith. A matchup of the ages that combined have produced 30 Final Four appearances and eight national titles.
“Two Hall of Fame coaches, two great programs, two sets of great players,” said Grant Hill, who will call Sunday’s showdown at the CenturyLink Center.
Should you bet Duke? Kansas? Who will win? Will either team cover the 3.5-point spread?
Duke Vs Kansas Elite Eight Odds & Final Score Predictions
#2 Duke vs #1 Kansas
When: Sunday, March 25 at 5:05 pm ET
Where: CenturyLink Center, Omaha, NE
Odds: Duke -3.5
Kansas is the 1-seed in the Midwest Region, but let’s not kid ourselves. Kansas was around an 8 to 1 shot to win the NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament before Round 1. Duke was a 9/2 shot.
That means the Duke Blue Devils end up the favorites before tip-off in this game on Sunday. Will Duke beat Kansas? Nope. And, it might not even be close.
Duke’s defense appears better because the Blue Devils’ zone D has helped them win 3 straight games in the NCAA Tournament. They dominated 15-seed Iona. They dominated 7-seed Rhode Island. Then, in the Sweet 16, Duke beat Syracuse.
Syracuse employs the same zone defense that Duke employs. What I’m getting at is employing a zone D versus Iona, Rhode Island, and Syracuse is a lot different than employing it against the Kansas Jayhawks.
I’ve got the feeling that Devonte’ Graham, Udoka Azubuike, Malik Newman, and the rest of Rock Chalk are salivating at the thought of playing against Duke’s zone defense. Graham should have a field day carving up Duke’s zone.
I am betting on the Kansas Jayhawks to upset the Dookies in this Elite 8 matchup.
