Duke Will Cover the 2-point Spread If
The Blue Devils can shoot as well in this game as they did in the last game.
Duke was absolutely brilliant from the floor against North Carolina in the first game this season between these two traditional ACC rivals. While Duke usually shoots 50.1% from the field, 38.7% from behind the three-point line and score 80.7 points per game, all fantastic offensive numbers, the Dookies were better than that against North Carolina in the first game.
Duke shot 50.8% from the field when making 33 out of 65 shots. From behind the arc, the Blue Devils were an incredible 62.5%, 10 out of 16, and Duke scored 92 points. Granted, 11 of those points came in overtime, but for Duke to exceed their averages against a team of North Carolina’s caliber is impressive. Since the Blue Devils will be the dogs in the rematch, it goes to figure that if they are as good offensively in the second game, they’ll cover the spread.
North Carolina Will Cover the 2-point Spread If
The Tar Heels can be better from the field and from the three-point line in the rematch.
North Carolina played their eyeballs out against Duke in the first game between these two heavyweights. The Tar Heels committed only 11 turnovers to Duke’s 16. The Heels were only out rebounded by a single board, 30 to 29. They almost played too good to lose.

But, then, after studying North Carolina’s offensive numbers, it’s impressive that they were that close to upsetting the Blue Devils. North Carolina shot 45% from the field. That’s okay, but they took 83 shots. If they had hit just a couple more than the 38 out of 83 that they hit, they might have pulled off the upset.
When it comes to shooting the 3-pointer, the Tar Heels were horrible in the first game. North Carolina hit only 2 out of 10 three-point shots. That’s 20%. North Carolina plays Duke at home in the rematch, meaning that they’ll be the favorite against the spread. If they have any hopes of covering the spread, they’re going to have to shoot better from the field and much better from behind the arc.
