Expert Picks NCAA Basketball Thanksgiving Week

With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, it’s the holiday hoops season and early season tournaments are taking place both, stateside and abroad. With that thought in mind, I’ve got a pair of expert college hoops picks from two matchups that are going down in the beautiful Bahamas and one that’s going down in the great Northwest!

Expert Picks NCAA Basketball Thanksgiving Week 2017

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (2-1) vs. No. 5 Villanova Wildcats (3-0)
When: Wednesday, November 22 at 1:30 PM ET
Where: Imperial Arena, Nassau, Bahamas

After dropping their opener, Western Kentucky has won two straight, but it really won’t matter much as they take on a far superior and unbeaten Villanova Wildcats team that has looked increasingly better in each of their three wins this season heading into their Bad Boy Mowers ‘Battle 4 Atlantis’ matchup.

The fifth-ranked Cats are putting up 97.3 points per game to the Hilltoppers’ 87.7 points per contest, plus Jay Wright’s title-hopeful team is limiting the opposition to just 64.7 points per game to Western Kentucky’s 74.7 per night. Villanova forward Mikal Bridges is playing out of his mind right now by averaging 18.3 points per game while shooting 62.1 percent from the field and a blistering 90.0 percent from the free throw line. Villanova has scored 113 and 104 points in their last two games respectively and will win this one by 20 at the very least!

Pick: Villanova by 20+

No. 3 Arizona Wildcats (3-0) vs. NC State Wolfpack (4-0)
When: Wednesday, November 22 at 6:00 PM ET
Where: Imperial Arena, Nassau, Bahamas

The third-ranked Wildcats are off to a perfect 3-0 start, but NC State has done them one better by going 4-0 heading into this intriguing ‘Battle 4 Atlantis’ matchup. The Wildcats are putting up a stellar 98.3 points per game while allowing 68.0per contest defensively. The Wolfpack are averaging 90.3 points through their quartet of contests while limiting the opposition to 65.8 per game.

While All-American candidate, junior shooting guard Allonzo Trier is putting up a stupendous 30.0 points per game for Arizona, NC State has a more balanced offensive attack led by their own junior two-guard guard Torin Dorn.

Pick: NC State will keep it to single digits.

No. 17 Gonzaga Bulldogs (3-0) vs. Ohio State Buckeyes (4-0)
When: Thursday, November 23 at 10:59 PM ET
Where: Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Portland, OR

Gonzaga is off to a 3-0 start and Ohio State has gone 4-0 so far, but both teams have beaten up on a string of overmatched opponents so far. The Bulldogs are putting up 98.0 points per game and allowing 68.0 per game defensively while the Buckeyes are averaging 84.8 and giving up 63.8 per contest defensively.

Ohio State may have the best player on the floor in this contest in 6-7 senior forward Keita Bates-Diop, but the Bulldogs share the ball better than almost every team in the country – every year – under head coach Mark Few and are the pick to win this one in their own backyard, although I’m thinking it’s going to be another thriller that comes down to the wire.

Pick: Gonzaga by 3
