Once a great rivalry, over the years has turned into nothing more than a Tar Heel exhibition game, over the last 5 season’s North Carolina have beaten up on Notre Dame on both sides of the floor, the Fighting Irish’s basketball rerouting has really taken a nose dive since they placed most of their focus into football. I don’t see any changes in this game as the Tar Heels are really holding on to the 19th overall spot with force, knowing that just one loss could be enough to take them out of the rankings for the reminder of the season.
The Irish fans know that by now they need to start looking for football tickets because the basketball program has really just faded away over these last few seasons, they have glimpses of good moments but nothing that caries them anywhere. This team is 6 and 10 in ACC play and has not beaten a ranked team in two full seasons. They show little to no aggressiveness on the offensive side of the ball while they follow the ball on defense allowing the second most points in the paint of ACC teams.
The Tar Heels have not had the best season either but in no way can be categorized with the Irish, they have turned things around after some questionable losses and beaten some big named programs, they have a good, technical defense but need to find a better rhythm on offense, their scorers are inconsistent down the stretch of games which makes things difficult in must score moments. North Carolina still comes into this game -16 and I see them covering that by halftime, they are too big down low and too fast on top.
