These teams have already split two meetings this season, with Butler winning 64-58 in the Battle 4 Atlantis on Nov. 28.

Georgetown is holding opponents to a league-low 39.8 percent shooting, while the Bulldogs are giving up a league-low 60.9 points per game.

Butler is 12-1 at home against unranked teams, with its lone defeat coming 66-62 on Jan. 6 to Providence — which joined the rankings last week. The Bulldogs close the regular season Saturday at the Friars, who currently sit in a third-place tie with Georgetown.

The Hoyas are 2/3 against Top 25 foes, and they were blown out in their only such matchup on the road, 69-53 at then-No. 7 Villanova on Feb. 7.

Georgetown Will Cover the Spread If

The Hoyas can shoot better from the field.

Georgetown, as a 4 point home favorite, didn’t cover the spread against Butler in the first battle between these two. Georgetown won the game 61 to 59. Butler did just enough to beat the Hoyas against the spread.

Georgetown is likely to be the underdog when they face Butler on the road on Tuesday. If that’s the case, the Hoyas are simply going to have to better from the field against the Bulldogs this time around than they were in the first battle. Georgetown probably won’t shoot 53 times from the field against Butler on Tuesday like they did in the first game. The Hoyas will have to make a higher percentage of their shots from the field than 39.6%. They will also have to make more than 4 out of 11 three-point shots for 36.4% like they did in the first matchup if they hope to cover the spread.

Butler Will Cover the Spread If

Butler takes more three-point shots and makes more three-point shots.

Butler should once again be without forward Andrew Chrabascz. That might work in their favor against Georgetown because without Chrabascz, the Bulldogs are more likely to take three-point shots than with Chrabascz.

Butler shot 44% from the field against Georgetown in the last game. But, they shot a terrible 28.6% from the three-point line against the Hoyas in that first matchup. Butler is much better from the three-point line, 35.6%, on average. The problem is that the Bulldogs took only 7 three-point shots. They made 2 of them, but the percentage is horrible because of the lack of three-point shots that the Bulldogs took.

Since Butler will be the favorite in this game on Tuesday, they will need to take way more three-point shots in order to cover the spread against Georgetown. The Hoyas are allowing teams to shoot 35.3% from behind the arc. That percentage should allow Butler to pull away from Georgetown if they simply take more three-point shots.

Final Score Prediction – Butler Bulldogs 67, Georgetown Hoyas 56
