College Hoops Picks Nov 28th – Dec 4th

Outside of Saturday’s UCLA vs UK tilt, the hottest college hoops betting picks are mid-week this week. Will Michigan beat Virginia Tech as a favorite on Nov. 30? Who wins when ranked Purdue battles ranked Louisville on Wednesday? On Thursday, will nationally ranked Iowa State handle historically tough Cincinnati at home? Who goes home with the win when UCLA battles Kentucky on Saturday, Dec. 3?

NCAA Hoops Picks Nov 28th – Dec 4th

Virginia Tech at #25 Michigan
When:  Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7:15 pm ET
Where: Crisler Center, Ann Arbor, MI
TV: ESPN 2

Analysis: The Michigan Wolverines have started out the season going 5 and 1 straight up. But, take a close look at the lone loss. As a -3 road favorite on Nov. 23, Michigan got spanked by SEC squad South Carolina. The Gamecocks held Michigan to only 46 points on their way to a 61 to 46 beat down.

Virginia Tech is also 5-1 on the season. Their lone loss was to Texas A&M. In that game, VA Tech went off as a +2 dog. They lost 65 to 68. Since the Hokies lone loss so far this season was way more impressive than Michigan’s lone loss, I’m siding with Virginia Tech.

They could upset Michigan on the moneyline as a big dog this Wednesday.

Pick: Virginia Tech

#17 Purdue at #10 Louisville
When:  Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7:15 pm ET
Where: KFC Yum! Center, Louisville, KY
TV: ESPN

Analysis: Purdue versus Louisville is a great early season matchup. The Louisville Cardinals figure to be big favorites both straight up and on the moneyline since they battle Purdue at home in this game.
But, Purdue is no slouch. The 5-1 Boilermakers’ lone loss was to defending champion Villanova on Nov. 14. As is the case with Michigan versus Virginia Tech, Purdue’s lone loss this season is more impressive than Louisville’s lone loss, a 63 to 66 game to Baylor.

Purdue, so far at least, appears to be the better team. I think the Boilermakers could pull off the moneyline upset. I won’t mess around, though. I’ll just back Purdue at whatever the spread ends up being on Nov. 30.

Pick: Purdue

Cincinnati at #21 Iowa State
When:  Thursday, Dec. 1 at 9:00 pm ET
Where: Hilton Coliseum, Ames, IA
TV: ESPN

Analysis: There was a time when opponents feared the Cincinnati Bearcats. Those days are long gone. But the Bearcats still have a good enough program to be competitive. Will Cincinnati step it up big time against Iowa State on Thursday night?

The ranked Cyclones are 5-1 straight up an 3-1 against the spread. The problem I have with Iowa State covering what’s most likely going to be an underlay spread on Dec. 1 is that the matchup versus Cincinnati is a contrast in styles.

The Cyclones want to run with the basketball. Cincinnati is a possession basketball team. The Bearcats get the edge ATS due to their excellent defense. I think Cincinnati could win this matchup straight up as well.

Pick: Cincinnati

#11 UCLA at #1 Kentucky
When:  Saturday, Dec. 3 at 12:30 pm ET
Where: Rupp Arena, Lexington, KY
TV: CBS

Analysis: Two of the most storied franchises in college basketball history throw down on Saturday, Dec. 3 when the UCLA Bruins battle the Kentucky Wildcats. UCLA’s players must have heard that their coach, Steve Alford, is on the hot seat. The Bruins have started out this season by going undefeated at 7 and 0.

But Kentucky, as is often the case, is loaded with talented freshman. John Calipari’s team has been awesome so far this college hoops’ season. The Wildcats dominated Michigan State 69 to 48 on Nov. 15.

Then again, Michigan State isn’t nearly as good of a team as so many believe them to be. I think that UCLA can pull off the upset over Calipari’s youngsters on Dec. 3. I’m backing the Bruins.

Pick: UCLA<>
