Bet The Michigan Wolverines Because…

Michigan’s top player, Caris LeVert, is listed as questionable for this Sunday matchup. LeVert is one of those star players who raise the level of play of everyone around him. He didn’t play in Michigan’s 70 to 67 win over the Terrapins on Jan. 12. If LeVert is able to suit up, and the fact that he’s listed as questionable instead of doubtful implies that he should be able to play, Michigan could upset Maryland on the road. The Michigan coaches pulled LeVert early versus Purdue on Feb. 13, a game that the Wolverines won 61 to 56. It looks like the coaches wanted to make sure LeVert was ready for this matchup.

Bet The Maryland Terrapins Because…

The Terrapins have to start solidifying its position as the best team in the Big Ten.  Maryland is 22 and 4 overall and 10 and 3 in the conference. Maryland is not only fighting for the Big Ten Regular Season Championship, but they are also fighting for a top seed in next month’s NCAA Tournament. The Terps have to win games impressively to turn the head of the Selection Committee. Gaining revenge over a solid squad like Michigan on Sunday could help to do just that.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction

One advantage that Maryland will have in this game is the return of Diamond Stone. Stone was suspended for Maryland’s game against Minnesota on Thursday night. Stone has developed into a solid center for the Terps. He averages close to 13 points and 5 boards per game.
Stone scored 22 points and grabbed 11 boards in the first game against Michigan. If Stone repeats that type of performance on Sunday, Maryland could run away with this game.

There is no question that Terrapin guards Melo Trimble and Rasheed Sulaimon will perform better against the Wolverines on Feb. 21. Trimble was held to 2 points and Sulaimon was held to 8. Both guys have a chance of getting into double-figures against Michigan on Sunday.

Even if LeVert plays, Sulaimon and Trimble should be solid enough to lead the Terps to a big win. I like Maryland by more than 10.

My final score prediction is Maryland 78, Michigan 66.
