Bet The Florida Gators Because…

Florida’s excellent defense could really confuse Kentucky’s freshman. As is usually the case, John Calipari’s team is made up of a bunch of freshman. Also as is usually the case, even without former coach Billy Donovan roaming the bench, Florida has a terrific defense. The Gators allow 65.8 points per game. Opponents average 39.2% from the field against the Gators’ D. Florida allows 31.2% from three. If the Gators can use their defense to force Kentucky’s freshman into bad spots and to confuse them when Kentucky is on offense, they could pull off the huge upset.

Bet The #19 Kentucky Wildcats Because…

Because Kentucky returns home after 2 tough losses. The Wildcats were oh so close to taking down Kansas as a +5.5 points underdog last Saturday. Kentucky had Kansas on the ropes but ended up letting the Jayhawks take it into overtime where Kansas beat Kentucky 90 to 84. Kentucky failed to bounce back from the loss to Kansas in a road game against Tennessee on Feb. 2. As a big -8 point favorite, Kentucky bombed. The Wildcats got drilled 84 to 77 versus the Vols. Kentucky has no recourse but to bounce back with a big home win over Florida on Feb. 6. If they don’t win on Saturday, they could be in danger of getting shut out of the NCAA Tournament all together.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction

There was a 3 game stretch where it looked as if Kentucky had changed their 2015-2016 College Basketball Season script. The Wildcats had beaten and covered in 3 straight games against Arkansas, Vanderbilt and Missouri.

But, maybe, Kentucky just isn’t as good this season as they have been in past seasons. Coach John Calipari will do his best to get his guys to play with the type of enthusiasm needed to make waves in the NCAA Tournament. The Gators have been on a roll. They scored 88 versus West Virginia and 87 against Arkansas.
I think that things go from bad to worse for Kentucky in this matchup. I’m picking Florida to beat the Wildcats straight up.

My final score prediction is Florida 85, Kentucky 82.
