Bet The Georgetown Hoyas Because…
The Hoyas got back on track this week with a terrific 92 to 67 win over Big East cellar dweller St. John’s. Before the fantastic win, Georgetown had lost 4 out of 5 straight up. Once of the losses included a 69 to 73 home game to Providence as a -2.5 point favorite. The Hoyas were in that game until the very end. Georgetown’s biggest issue was stopping the Friars’ hot hands from the three-point line. Providence shot over 45% from three in that game. The Friars average 31.6% from three. If Georgetown can keep Providence to its average from the three-point line, they might be able to upset Providence straight up in this game.
Bet The Providence Friars Because…
It’s time for the Friars to end the losing streak. Since beating Georgetown 73 to 69, Providence has lost to Depaul 70 to 77, Villanova 60 to 72 and Marquette 91 to 96 in overtime. The Friars’ 2 best players guard Kris Dunn and big man Ben Bentil, have been terrific during the losing streak. Unfortunately, nobody else has stepped help to out the 2 Big East Player of the Year candidates. It’s time for the other Providence players to give a hand to Dunn and Bentil. Dunn and Bentil accounted for 59 of the 91 points that Providence scored in the loss to Marquette. That’s way too many points coming from 2 players.
Against The Spread Pick & Final Score Prediction
Providence has to find a way to get a win. A fourth straight loss would send Providence in to danger territory when it comes to garnering an NCAA Tournament bid.
The Friars have an issue in this game. Even though they beat Georgetown the last time that these 2 teams played, the Friars had to shoot 45% from three and over 42% from the field in order to do it. The 5 made three-point shots accounted for 15 points. That won’t happen again.
Providence is tough at home, but Georgetown has the momentum. The Hoyas looked great against St. John’s. Providence will be significantly tougher than what St. John’s was earlier in the week, but the Hoyas should be ready. I think Georgetown adds to Providence’s slide.
