Why Bet The Kentucky Wildcats
Kentucky (18-4 SU, 12-10 ATS) snapped its two-game skid by beating Georgia 90-81 in overtime on Tuesday night despite failing to cover the spread as a 15.5-point home favorite.
The Wildcats got an outstanding performance from Malik Monk as the freshman guard scored a team-high 37 points while sophomore guard Isaiah Briscoe added 23 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in the win.
"I’m as proud of this team as any since I’ve been here, Kentucky coach John Calipari said. We had no business winning this game."
Kentucky outscored Georgia 14-5 in overtime while holding the Bulldogs scoreless over the final 3:08. Monk had eight points for the Wildcats in overtime and 31 points after halftime.
"Monk, you have to give him credit," Georgia coach Mark Fox said. "He made some guarded shots and he obviously was the big difference in the game."
The Wildcats average a stellar 91.3 points per game to rank third nationally in scoring while giving up 73.2 points per game defensively to rank a dismal 212th in points allowed.
Why Bet The Florida Gators
Florida (17-5 SU, 12-8 ATS) has won and covered the spread in three straight including their emphatic 93-54 smackdown of Missouri on Thursday night.
Chris Chiozza recorded 12 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists for the fourth triple-double in program history. Nick Calathes recorded two (2008 and 2009) and current NBA player Corey Brewer (2005) posted the other.
"I’m glad I got that," Chiozza said. "It was a goal I always wanted to get in college, but I’m just glad that we got the win. That’s the most important thing."
Senior guard Canyon Barry scored 17 points and sophomore guard KeVaughn Allen added 15 for Florida. Senior point guard Kasey Hill had 11 points for the Gators who won by more than 30 points for the third consecutive game.
The Gators average 79.3 points per game to rank 56th in scoring nationally while limiting the opposition to just 65.6 points per contest defensively to rank 43rd in points allowed nationally.
Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
I like the athleticism that the Kentucky Wildcats possess, but for me, the red-hot Florida Gators are the pick to get the big home win against their hated rivals.
Kentucky has gone 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win and an identical 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. The Wildcats are also 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall.
On the flip side of the coin, the Florida Gators are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a straight up win of more than 20 points and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 home games. While the Wildcats are 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings, I don’t see them winning this game or covering the spread.
My final score prediction is Florida 82 Kentucky 77
