Kentucky vs Wisconsin Final Four Odds & Final Score Prediction

The Kentucky Wildcats are two wins away from making history as the only 40-game winning Men’s NCAA Tourney champion. Standing in their way are Frank Kaminsky, Sam Dekker, and the 5-point underdog Wisconsin Badgers.

UK no longer looks like the invincible Wildcats that tore apart UVA a few short days ago. John Calipari’s squad showed vulnerability in their 68-66 Elite Eight victory over Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish took UK to the final possession of the game and had the lead for much of the second half.

The Badgers are gunning for their first national championship since 1941 and a win over UK in the Final Four would mean a possible rematch with Duke, which left Madison with a 80-70 win on Dec. 3.

Kentucky Will Cover the 5-point Spread If

The Wildcats play D.

Kentucky got lucky versus Notre Dame in the Elite Eight. Notre Dame had the lead late in the game, but somehow, someway, Kentucky pulled out a 68 to 66 win. The Wildcats shot a terrific 53.2% from the field and 50% from the three-point line.

Notre Dame didn’t shoot all that well from the three-point line. They made only 4 of 22 shots for 28.6%. But the Irish was deadly from the field. Notre Dame made 26 of 56 shots for 46.4%. Versus Wisconsin, Kentucky is going to have to pay attention to the Badgers’ perimeter shooting, in particular the three-point shot, because Wisconsin center Frank Kaminsky can actually move out of the paint and hit threes. If Kentucky doesn’t defend the three as well as they did versus Notre Dame, they won’t cover the spread against Wisconsin.

Kentucky Wildcats’ Final Four Projected Starting Lineup:

  • G Aaron Harrison, 6-6, So., 11.3 ppg, 2.4 rpg
  • G Andrew Harrison, 6-6, So., 9.2 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 3.7 apg
  • F Trey Lyles, 6-10, Fr., 8.4 ppg, 5.1 rpg
  • F Karl-Anthony Towns, 6-11, Fr., 9.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg
  • C Willie Cauley-Stein, 7-0, Jr., 9.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg
  • Coach: John Calipari (sixth season)

Wisconsin Will Cover the 5-point Spread If

The Badgers stay hot from 3-point land.

Arizona had a 33 to 30 lead over Wisconsin going into the second half. The Badgers dominated the Wildcats in the second half by outscoring Arizona 55 to 45 in the for an 85 to 78 win. Wisconsin built a lead over Arizona by hitting almost every single one of their 3 point attempts in the second half.

The Badgers went 12 out of 18 from three for 66.7%. It was an onslaught of three-point shooting that put the nail into the Tucson Wildcats’ coffin. If Wisconsin is to have any shot of covering the spread versus Kentucky in the Final Four, they’re going to have to be almost as good from three versus Kentucky as they were from three versus Arizona. Wisconsin has a decent inside presence with Frank Kaminsky, but Kaminsky can also make three-point shots. He’s going to have to really step it up from the perimeter against Kentucky. The Wildcats defense could have some trouble versus Wisconsin if the Badgers are hitting their three pointers.

Wisconsin Badgers’ Final Four Projected Starting Lineup:

  • G Bronson Koenig, 6-2, So., 7.8 ppg, 2.2 apg
  • G Josh Gasser, 6-3, Sr., 7.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg
  • F Sam Dekker, 6-9, Jr.., 13.1 ppg, 5.5 rpg
  • F Nigel Hayes, 6-7, So., 12.0 ppg, 6.4 rpg
  • C Frank Kaminsky, 7-0, Sr., 18.4 ppg, 8.1 rpg
  • Coach: Bo Ryan (14th season)
