March Madness Round 1 Free Betting Picks
Will Trae Young lead the Oklahoma Sooners to a sweet victory over the Rams? I like another Thursday game when Montana battles Michigan. Can the Wolverines cover the spread versus Montana? The final game I like has #1 Virginia battling UMBC. Virginia is a huge favorite. Could the Cavaliers possibly cover a -22.5 spread?
#10 Oklahoma vs #7 Rhode Island – Midwest Region
When: Thursday, March 15 at 12:15 pm ET
Where: PPG Paints Arena, Pittsburgh, PA
Odds: Rhode Island -1
Analysis: Supposedly, Oklahoma was a bubble team. What’s so strange is that the Selection Committee planned on putting Oklahoma into the NCAA Tournament.
The reason is because of Trae Young. He’s an exceptional talent. However, Oklahoma hasn’t yet figured out how to play with Young. They can’t play without him. They also can’t play with him. What I mean by that is Oklahoma relies so much on Young that teams have figured out how to beat the Sooners even if Young goes off.
Rhode Island is a good basketball team. The Rams should beat the Sooners by 6 to 10 points in this battle. Oklahoma probably shouldn’t have even garnered a bid. I don’t expect much from the Sooners.
March Madness Round 1 Free Betting Pick: Rhode Island -1
#14 Montana vs #3 Michigan – West Region
When: Thursday, March 15 at 9:50 pm ET
Where: Intrust Bank Arena, Wichita, KS
Odds: Michigan -11.5
Analysis: For the third straight season, the Michigan Wolverines won the Big Ten Basketball Tournament. On their way to winning the Big Ten Basketball Tournament, the Wolverines beat Michigan State, who is a 9/2 favorite to win the NCAA Championship, 75 to 64. They beat Purdue 75 to 66.
The Montana Grizzlies went 26 and 7. That’s a good record. But, Montana’s defense should have no chance of stopping Michigan’s offense. Montana allows opponents to shoot 42% from the field. Opponents also shoot 36% from three versus the Grizzlies.
Michigan should roll on Thursday. I believe a 20-point win isn’t out of the question.
March Madness Round 1 Free Betting Pick: Michigan -11.5
#16 UMBC vs #1 Virginia – South Region
When: Friday, March 16 at 9:20 pm ET
Where: Spectrum Center, Charlotte, NC
Odds: Virginia -22.5
Analysis: The Virginia Cavaliers average 67.5 points per. They allow 53.4 points per on average. Virginia plays in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Some other teams in the ACC are: Syracuse, North Carolina, Duke, and NC State. The ACC is considered the very best college basketball conference in the nation.
The difference between what Virginia scores and what they allow is around 14 points. That’s versus ACC opponents. The Cavaliers should beat UMBC by 30 on Friday.
March Madness Round 1 Free Betting Pick: Virginia
