March Mandess Round of 64 Parlay Picks

There are 32 games to choose from in Round 64 and that means picking March Madness round 1 parlays is a double-edged sword. Out of a field of 32 games, picking up to half a dozen winners can be daunting. But I did the math, conferred with my psychic and sat on my lucky rabbit’s foot while picking my R64 March Madness parlay winners.

I’m definitely taking a shot by putting two 12th-seeds versus 5th-seeds games in my R64 March Madness parlay. While most of you would expect me to take both 12-seeds because who doesnt like an underdog, but I’m am backing both of the 5-seeds. That’s what the stats and eye tests have told me. I have to go with my gut!

March Madness Round Of 64 2-Team Parlay Pick

  • Baylor -6
  • Utah -8.5

No. 12 Yale vs No. 5 Baylor
When: Thursday, March 17 at 2:45 pm ET
TV: CBS
Spread: Baylor -6

Baylor should win big in this game. The Bears go into the NCAA Tournament hot. They pushed the Kansas Jayhawks all the way in the Big 12 Tournament in a terrific 66 to 70 loss on March 11. Baylor beat Texas 75 to 61 in the Big 12 Tournament on March 10.

Yale is a decent team but it’s hard to see how the Bulldogs are going to stop Baylor’s Taurean Prince. Prince averages 15.5 points and 6 boards per game. Baylor’s Jonathan Motley averages over 11 points and over 5 boards per game. Motley shoots close to 62% from the field. He has 39 blocks on the season. Baylor to win big is what I foresee happening in this matchup.

Pick: Baylor

No. 14 Fresno State vs No. 3 Utah
When: Thursday, March 17 at 7:27 pm ET
TV: TBS
ATS Odds: Utah -8.5

The Bulldogs are a guard first team. Marvell Harris leads the team in points per game at 20.6. He averages 4.4 assists per matchup. Fresno State has a huge matchup problem in the frontcourt when facing Utah on Thursday.

Utah’s Jakob Poeltl is one of the top big men in all of college basketball. Poeltl averages 17.6 points and 9 boards per game. Poeltl has 55 blocks on the season. But, Utah’s guards aren’t bad. Both Brandon Taylor and Lorenzo Bonam can put the ball in the basket if opponents insist on trying to stop Poeltl. Bonam had 18 points in an 82 to 78 overtime win against California during the Pac 12 Tournament. Bonam scored 18 against Cal in that game as well. Utah should dominate Fresno State in this Round of 64 matchup.

Pick: Utah

March Madness Round Of 64 3-Team Parlay Pick

  • Baylor -6
  • Utah -8.5
  • Maryland -9

No. 12 South Dakota St. vs No. 5 Maryland
When: Friday, March 18 at 4:30 pm ET
TV: TBS
ATS Odds: Maryland -9

I like Maryland as a 5 to cover the spread over 12 South Dakota St because to me Maryland is one of the few teams in the NCAA Tournament with the whole package. The South Dakota State Jackrabbits run their offense through forward Mike Daum. Daum leads South Dakota State in scoring at 15.2 points per game.

Maryland should be able to counter Daum with talented freshman Diamon Stone, who averages 13 points per game, or the underrated Robert Carter, who scored 18 points and grabbed 8 boards against Michigan State in Maryland’s impressive 61 to 64 loss to the Spartans in the Big Ten Tournament. When it comes to South Dakota State’s guards versus Maryland’s, there’s no contest. I firmly believe that Maryland has the best starting guards in college basketball with Duke transfer Rasheed Sulaimon and the terrific Melo Trimble. I think Maryland rolls to an easy victory in this game.

Pick: Maryland
