Bet The No. 5 seeded Maryland Terrapins Because…
Maryland’s guards are nothing like Kansas has faced in a long time. Oklahoma gave Kanas trouble during the regular season because of Player of the Year Award candidate Buddy Hield. Hield scored 46 against Kansas in the first game between the 2 teams. He scored 24 in the second game against the 2 teams. The problem with facing Maryland is that Rasheed Sulaimon and Melo Trimble are like 2 Buddy Hields. Both Trimble and Sulaimon can get to the rim. Both can shoot the three. Both can play defense.
Bet The No. 1 seeded Kansas Jayhawks Because…
Kansas has proven to be the most complete team in the NCAA Tournament. The Jayhawks blitzed Austin Peay 105 to 79 by taking an incredible 70 shots from the field. Kansas made 39 of those 70 shots for 55.7%. Against Connecticut, Kansas took only 51 shots from the field. The Jayhawks made 25 of those shots for 49%. Kansas is tough because the Jayhawks can play any style of basketball and still beat you.
March Madness Sweet 16 Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
Although Kansas is the most complete team in the NCAA Tournament, they don’t have a true star on the squad quite like Trimble. That’s Maryland’s ace in the hole. Trimble is a special player because he doesn’t have to score 24 points a game the way that Hield for Oklahoma does in order for the Sooners to win.
If Trimble is having success setting up forward Rob Carter and center Diamond Stone in the paint, that’s the way he’ll play it. The fact that Sulaimon can also set up Maryland’s bigs, means that the Terps are going to have the best chance of any team in Kansas’ last 16 games to upset the Jayhawks.
I have to take a chance on Maryland to get it done.
