Michigan at Indiana College Hoops Odds & Final Score Prediction

History favors the slumping Hoosiers over the inexperienced Wolverines today!

Tom Crean’s Hoosiers are hoping for smoother sailing after losing three of its past four, sinking Indiana faster than the Titanic from a first-place tie in the Big Ten to 6-4, tied with Ohio State and Michigan State for fourth.

The Hoosiers are hoping for the status quo in today’s matchup against the Michigan Wolverines in Bloomington, Indiana. Indiana has won four out of the past six between these two programs including their game last season in Bloomington.

And for those of you keeping score, Michigan has won just once in their last 17 trips to Bloomington, dating back to 1995. Their lone win came in IU Coach Tom Crean’s first season with IU still recovering from NCAA Sanctions related to Kelvin Sampson.

Michigan Will Cover the Spread If

The Wolverines can slow down Indiana’s offense.

Michigan has been known for a team that likes to push the ball in recent years, but this Wolverines’ squad is anything but a fast-pace minded team. The Wolverines only score 64.6 points per game off of 41.6% shooting from the field.

But, the Wolverines’ defense has been very good lately. It is holding teams to 61.9 points per game off of 43.3% shooting. The defense does a good job of keeping possessions down while the offense will try and make enough three-pointers for the Wolverines to win. Against Indiana, the same tactics will need to be employed. Michigan’s biggest issue is going to be stopping Indiana’s ability to score in bunches. The Hoosiers love to run out and get easy baskets in transition. If Michigan isn’t able to get back on defense quickly enough, this game will get out of hand.

Indiana Will Cover the Spread If

Indiana can get defensive rebounds and push the pace.

The Hoosiers usually out rebound opponents 36 to 30 per game. Against Michigan, they might be able to raise that difference by at least 6 because Michigan is pretty much even when it comes to rebounding at 31 apiece.

Indiana has the ability to really do some damage in this matchup. Even though the Hoosiers lost 92 to 78 to Wisconsin, they were able to close the gap in the second half and cover against the spread. More importantly, Indiana forced Wisconsin, who is just a better team than they are, to play their style of basketball. If the same thing happens against Michigan, Indiana will most likely win the game by over 20 points since the Wolverines simply aren’t as good from the field, 41% compared to close to 48%, as the Hoosiers and don’t shoot as well, 35% compared to 41%, from behind the arc.

My College Hoops Final Score Prediction

Bet the bank on the Hoosiers to beat the Wolverines.

The Wolverines are 37-18-1 against the spread in their last 56 games following a loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Hoosiers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games following a ATS win. The Wolverines are 1-6 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Indiana and 6-20-1 ATS in the last 27 meetings overall.

Historically Indiana has had Michigan’s number when it comes betting their head-to-head games against the spread for a very long, long time and that will continue today in Bloomington, Indiana. My college hoops final score prediction is that the Wolverines don’t have the depth to take on an offensive minded team like the Hoosiers who will easily win win by double digits.

Indiana Hoosiers 82, Michigan Wolverines 60
