Michigan Wolverines Vs MSU Spartans Odds & Pick

Should You Bet On No. 4 MSU to Rebound in Huge Home Matchup Against in-State Rival Michigan?

After getting completely smacked around in their humbling 80-64 road loss to Ohio State last weekend, No. 4 Michigan State will look to take down longtime in-state rival Michigan three days after they host Rutgers in what looks like a winnable affair. The unranked Wolverines will look to pick up the big road upset in this one after facing No. 5 Purdue on Wednesday.

Michigan had won seven straight games heading into their Wednesday night matchup against Purdue, including their 79-69 win over Illinois on Saturday. Isaiah Livers and Moe Wagner were both big in the second half despite scoring a modest 12 at 14 points respectively.

"That’s a really good Michigan basketball team," Illinois coach Brad Underwood said.

Michigan State gave up a career-high 32 points to Ohio State’s Keita Bates-Diop and got dominated almost from start to finish despite getting 17 points apiece from Joshua Langford and Miles Bridges. Nevertheless, Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo claimed his team didn’t overlook their conference rivals, they simply got beat.

"Don’t go searching now," Izzo said. "We’re 15-2 and we had great practices. There was no thinking that we were better than we are. We ran up against a team that played awfully well, and the place was hopping."

For this huge Big Ten battle I am betting on the Michigan State Spartans to get back in the win column in a big way, simply because they have far more offensive firepower than the Wolverines while these two rivals are nearly identical defensively. If the Spartans don’t turn the ball over early and often, they’ll get the big win by about eight points, thanks to their huge and active frontcourt and the fact that they shoot it better from the field and have more depth than Michigan. Michigan State hasn’t lost at home this season and the Spartans won’t fall in this contest either!
