NCAA Men’s Tournament Round of 32 Betting Picks – Saturday Edition

#9 Pittsburgh Panthers +5.0 over #1 Florida Gators
The Pittsburgh Panthers will challenge the Florida Gators in the March Madness round of 32.
Starts: 03/22/2014 12:10PM
Amway Center, 400 West Church Street
Orlando, Florida

Florida could still very well be the best team in the tournament after they grinded Albany in to the dirt defensively, but there’s a strong case to be made that Pittsburgh is right up there with their opponents in the NCAA Men’s Tournament Round of 32. There’s a big part of me that believes Pittsburgh can win this game outright. They finally got over the hump late in the season after a handful of narrow losses against big name teams like Duke and Syracuse. Pittsburgh is way better than their regular season record indicates, and a confident 77-48 bruising of Colorado put their insane degree of talent on display.

The top ranked Gators could very well see their title hopes sink down the drain against the cagey Panthers but I’m airing on the side of caution and taking the spread in what I expect to be a nail biting finish. This is one of the toughest games to leverage a Round of 32 betting pick on. You either like Florida’s consistency this entire season, which includes their ability to constantly win close games, or you prefer a late charging Pittsburgh squad that is crushing it lately. I’m taking the latter.

#4 Louisville Cardinal -9.0 over #5 Saint Louis Billikens
The #4 Louisville Cardinal and the Saint Louis Billikens clash this Saturday in March Madness.
Starts: 03/22/2014 2:40PM
Amway Center, 400 West Church Street
Orlando, Florida

The Billikens survived an onslaught from T.J. Warren and the NC State Wolfpack which proved that they’re a great mid-level competitor. Unfortunately, we already knew that. We also know hat they’re a terrible bet overall, having gone 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 games, including a push against NC State. So while Saint Louis might have a bit of charm in the NCAA Men’s Tournament Round of 32 betting picks, especially as pretty big dogs, I’m not biting on this.

Louisville is an elite team. I’m banking on the fact that Louisville knows they can play way better than they did on Thursday. They’ll prove it by taking it to Saint Louis and muscling out a solid victory. Believe in the Cardinal; their close call against Manhattan was nothing more than a fluke.

#2 Michigan Wolverines -5.0 over #7 Texas Longhorns
The Michigan Wolverines and the Texas Longhorns clash this Saturday in the NCAA Men’s round of 32.
Starts: 03/22/2014 5:10PM
BMO Harris Bradley Center, 1001 N Fourth St.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Everything about the Wolverines reminds me of the energy they exemplified in the tournament last year. They feel like a championship contender, don’t they? Confidence has everything to do with success in the tournament and everyone on this team is playing full tilt.

The red herring in this NCAA Men’s Tournament Round of 32 betting pick is that I also genuinely feel like Texas is playing on a bit of borrowed time after barely surviving against ASU and hardly entered the tourney with any kind of momentum. Texas will prove to be a bit of a handful if they can get their inside game rolling, but Michigan is too consistent from both the free-throw line and the perimeter in general to really leverage a bet against.

#2 Wisconsin Badgers -4.5 over #7 Oregon Ducks
The Wisconsin Badgers and the Oregon Ducks meet this Saturday at March Madness.
Starts: 03/22/2014 7:40PM
BMO Harris Bradley Center, 1001 N Fourth St.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Wisconsin announced their arrival to March Madness with a staggeringly large margin of victory as they trounced American 75-35 for the biggest win on Thursday. That was by far the biggest win by any team so far in the second round. Oregon is a hot trending team these days, especially after they buried BYU 87-68, but the perimeter defense of the Badgers might be the least heralded in the tournament despite their obvious defensive efficiency. The Ducks will be shot out of the skies as Wisconsin’s smothers them defensively which is why you should back these burly Badgers in your own NCAA Men’s Tournament Round of 32 betting picks.
