Notre Dame at NC State Line, Final Score Prediction, TV/Streaming ScheduleNoah Williams
The eighth ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish will take on the North Carolina State Wolfpack today at the PNC Arena in an highly anticipated tilt that will be broadcast on ESPN.

NC State looked like a lock for a March Madness birth after beating Duke, but they have lost two in a row pushing that total to seven. Meanwhile, Notre Dame has exceeded everyone’s expectations and are in the hunt for the ACC title, but with matchups against power house teams like Duke (twice), Syracuse and Louisville, today’s matchup might be the breathing room they need.

Notre Dame will win this matchup if
Shut down NC State’s often-explosive offense!
The Fighting Irish (17-2 SU, 5-6 ATS) are on a pretty nice run as they head into Thursday night’s matchup against Virginia Tech.
Mike Brey’s ballclub has won two straight and nine of their last 10 games overall mostly by playing solid basketball at both ends of the floor.
The Irish are ranked 11th in the nation in scoring (81.7 ppg) and 92nd in points allowed (62.6 ppg). Notre Dame has four double-digit scorers on the roster and is led in scoring by senior shooting guard Jerian Grant (16.7ppg).
If the Fighting Irish want to win this matchup, then they’re going to have to be on guard against an NC State team that can beat – or apparently be beaten by – any team in the country.
NC State will win this matchup if
Speed up the pace and turn this affair into a track meet!
Mark Gottfried’s ballclub (13-6 SU, 9-7 ATS) has been wildly inconsistent this season. The Wolfpack have won five of their last 10, but that stat doesn’t tell the whole story for NC State. No, this ballclub has almost literally tried to drive Gottfried insane by alternating wins and losses over each of their last 10 games!
Over their last five games alone, NC State has throttled Pittsburgh at home by 18 points and then lost at unbeaten Virginia 61-51 on Jan. 7. Following those contests, State shocked the world by pounding Duke at home 87-75…before following that up with a heartbreaking 81-79 home loss to state rival Carolina.
The Wolfpack head into their Thursday night matchup against Miami off a solid 72-63 win over Florida State then face the Irish on Sunday.
NC State is ranked 73rd in the nation in scoring (72.7 ppg) and is led in scoring by senior guard Trevor Lacey (17.1ppg). The Wolfpack also get 6.2 rebounds per game from sophomore forward Lennard Freeman to lead the team.
I fully believe that NC State will have to speed up the tempo of this contest in order to keep pace with the high-scoring Fighting Irish. If they can score in the 70s, I believe they’ll have a chance. If not, they could lose badly.
Who Notre Dame or NC State Win This Tilt?
I like the way NC State has played over their last five games and I believe they’ll have a slim chance to pull off the upset. However, I said…a small chance, so I’m going to go with Notre Dame to pull out the ‘W’ in another heartbreaker for the Wolfpack, though I’m going with NC State to cover the spread.
The Wolfpack are a perfect 6-0 ATS in their last half-dozen games and I like them to remain that way!
