Notre Dame vs Clemson Betting Spread, ATS Prediction & TV InfoJosh Bailey
The 10th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish are looking to bounce back from their most lopsided loss since falling 93-62 to Villanova on Jan. 7, 1999 when they face the defensive-minded Clemson Tigers, who are seeking their eighth win in 10 home games.
The Irish lost to 4th-ranked Duke on Saturday by a score of 90-60 for their second loss in three games and need to make a statement if they want to be taken as a serious March Madness contender.
"I would hope and I would think – given the leaders I have and the leaders of this group – that they’ll bounce back in another tough place to play against a team that can guard us really just as well," coach Mike Brey said. "We have a big challenge at Clemson. Clemson is slowly becoming an NCAA tournament team. They’ve been off the radar, but they’re sneaking up on everybody."

Notre Dame Will Cover the Spread If
They can kick out for easy three-point shots.
Notre Dame has lost 2 out of their last 3 games. They’ve gone 0 and 3 against the spread in their last 3. Although it’s difficult to pin-point the exact problem, a lot of Notre Dame’s issues stem from its inability to kick out for the three-point shot.

Guard Jerian Grant, a legitimate Naismith Player of the Year candidate had only 3 assists versus Pittsburgh in Notre Dame’s 72 to 76 road loss as a -3.5 points favorite. He had only 4 assists versus Duke in the Blue Devils 90 to 60 crushing beat down of the Irish. Grant has to not only score but he has to penetrate and dish to Pat Connaughton for easy three-point shots if Notre Dame is to cover the spread versus Clemson. By scoring with the three, the Irish should open up their inside game against the Clemson Tigers.
Clemson Will Cover the Spread If
The Tigers defense can force Notre Dame into bad shots.
Clemson’s offense isn’t very good. It averages 63 points per game from 41.3% shooting. The Tigers shoot 30.1% from the three-point line and their top scorer Jaron Bossomgame only averages 10.3 points per game. But, Clemson has won 4 games in a row. More importantly, they’ve gone 3 and 0 against the spread in their last 3 games.

A lot of that has to do with their defense, which suddenly has become extremely good. No team has scored more than 59 points versus Clemson in the Tigers’ last 6 games. The defense now allows only 60.5 points from 38.8% shooting on average. Opponents’ three-point shots are only good 31.3% of the time. If the Tigers can play that type of defense against Notre Dame, they can definitely keep this contest close enough to have a shot at the upset victory against the suddenly reeling Notre Dame Irish.
