Two top-25 foes clash at the KFC Yum! Center tonight. They also happen to be in the ultra competitive ACC. The 12th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish hit the road for the last time this season tonight in Louisville, Kentucky to take on the 16th-ranked Cardinals.

A Closer Look At the Fighting Irish Vs Cardinals Betting Spread & My ATS Pick
The Fighting Irish are 24-5 overall, 12-4 in ACC play. In their last outing, the Irish dropped a game the Syracuse Orange 65-60, giving Mike Brey’s squad just their second home loss of the season. Notre Dame has lost three of its last seven games after starting ACC play at 8-1.
Louisville has won three straight to jump to a 23-6 record while boasting an 11-5 mark in ACC play.

Notre Dame Will Cover the Four-point Spread If
The Irish can get closer to their averages on offense.
The last time that these two teams faced each other was in 2013. That game was way too long ago to use as a measuring stick, but, not surprisingly, Louisville played its usual brand of shut down defense. It’s a Rick Pitino staple for the Cardinals.

If Notre Dame is to cover the spread versus Pitino’s team on Wednesday night, Notre Dame is going to have to be close to their averages on offense. The Cardinals’ success this season has been when they’re shutting down teams with their defense. If Notre Dame shoots its average of 50.8%, which is ranked second in college basketball from the field, the points will obviously follow. It’s difficult to see Notre Dame not covering the spread in this matchup if they’re close to their average of 79 points per game.
Louisville Will Cover the Four-point Spread If
Louisville can find enough offensive production.
Louisville is one of the worst home cover teams in all of college basketball. The Cardinals are 3-11-2 against the spread at home this season. That’s terrible. A lot of their problems that lead to non-covers in their home games has to do with their offense.
While weather shuts UofL down at 2 pm, the Cardinals' 7 pm MBB game vs Notre Dame will be played as scheduled. Doors open at 5:30 pm #L1C4

Louisville’s defense, when everybody is playing together, is one of the best in college basketball. The Cardinals allow less than 60 points per game on average at 58.9. Opponents shoot 38% from the field versus Louisville and 28.4% from behind the three-point line. But when it comes to offensive production, Louisville can leave something to be desired. The Cardinals are only averaging 70 points per game off of 43% shooting from the field. Louisville shoots 30% from behind the arc. If they can’t score against Notre Dame, it could be a long afternoon for Louisville and its fans. The Irish’s top player, guard Jerian Grant, is likely to put up more than 20 points versus the Cardinals. They had better find a way to score with Grant or Louisville won’t cover the spread on Wednesday night.
