Odds To Win The 2017 Big East ChampionshipNoah Williams
The second-ranked and defending national champion Villanova Wildcats have had a virtual stranglehold on the Big East for the past two seasons. With the Cats gearing up for another deep March Madness national championship tournament run, the questions begs to be asked.
Will another conference title contender – or an upset-minded underdog – be able to pull off the upset over Nova to win the Big East Conference tournament when it gets underway on Wednesday?

The Favorite To Win The 2017 Big East Championship: Villanova 2/3
Second-ranked Villanova (28-3, 15-3) has won two straight and nine of their last 10 games overall and have a Player of the Year candidate in shooting guard Josh Hart (18.7 ppg), not to mention a blossoming point guard in Jalen Brunson (14.8 ppg), another blossoming youngster in athletic forward and another likely future NBA performer in sweet-shooting forward Kris Jenkins (13.4 ppg). Villanova ranks 83rd in scoring (77.5 ppg) and a stellar 21st in points allowed (63.1 ppg), not to mention the Cats also rank 11th nationally in scoring margin, at 14.1 ppg.
The Smart Bet To Win The 2017 Big East Championship: Butler 3/1
The Bulldogs had their four-game winning streak snapped in their regular season finale against desperate Seton Hall, but they are also the last team to beat Villanova and the only team to beat them twice this season and that alone tells me the Bulldogs are dangerous. Butler is also ranked inside the top 100 in both scoring (76.9 ppg, 98th) and points allowed (68.6 ppg, 83rd).
The Value Pick To Win The 2017 Big East Championship: Creighton 6/1
Creighton has really struggled in dropping three of their last four games and five of their last eight games overall, but the Bluejays have also recorded quality wins over Butler (twice) and Wisconsin this season. Creighton ranks a stellar 16th in scoring (83.5 ppg) and even more impressive third on field goal shooting percentage (51.2%) and that tells me they could shoot out the lights on some unsuspecting favorite.
The Longshot Pick To Win The 2017 Big East Championship: Providence 15/1
Providence (20-11, 10-8) is one fire coming into the Big East tournament having won six straight games while beating Butler, a once ranked Xavier ballclub and Creighton along the way. More importantly, the Friars have a rock-solid defense that limits the opposition to 66.5 points per game to rank 49th nationally.
