Saturday’s College Basketball 3-Team Parlay Pick 01/17

Without college football this Saturday, what will you do? There are only 2 NFL games this weekend and both are on Sunday. If you are so inclined, you may want to jump on my Saturday College Hoops 3-Team Parlay.

First, Michigan State hits the road to battle 14 ranked Maryland. Second, Miami Florida battles 12 ranked Notre Dame on the road. Finally, the Pac 12 showcases two of its top teams when 8 Utah travels to Tucson to take on 10 Arizona.

Saturday’s College Basketball 3-Team Parlay Pick 01/17

Matchup: Michigan State Spartans at No. 14 Maryland Terrapines
Date: Jan. 17, 2015
Start Time: 4:00 p.m. ET
Location: College Park, Maryland
Stadium: Comcast Center
TV Info: CBS
Radio:  Michigan State Vs  Maryland

Analysis: These two teams actually played on Dec. 30 at Michigan State. The Terrapins came out on top 68 to 66 in overtime even though the Spartans held the Terrapins to 33.3% shooting from the field and 18% shooting from behind the three-point line.

Since that game, Michigan State has won 3 in a row including beating Indiana 70 to 50. Although Maryland beat Purdue on the road and Minnesota at home, they did lose to Illinois 57 to 64 on the road. More importantly, the Terrapins are 2-5-1 against the spread at home while Michigan State is 2 and 1 ATS in their away games.

Sparty could dish out some pay back in this matchup.

College Hoops Parlay Pick: Michigan State

Matchup: Miami Hurricanes at No. 12 Notre Dame Fighthing Irish
Date: Jan. 17, 2015
Start Time: 2:00 p.m. ET
Location: South Bend, Indiana
Stadium: Purcell Pavilion
TV Info: ESPN 2
Stream: WatchESPN
Radio:  Miami (FL) Vs Notre Dame

Analysis: Miami has the ability to jump up and really surprise some teams. 5’ 11” guard Angel Rodriguez is averaging 15.2 points and 4.2 assists per game. He dominated Duke by scoring 25 points, dishing 5 assists and grabbing 4 boards in a 90 to 74 Miami victory over the Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium. When Rodriguez is hot, Miami is difficult to beat. When Rodriguez’s isn’t hot, the Hurricanes can lean on 6’ 5” guard Sheldon McClellan who averages 15.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

Notre Dame’s offense might be the best in the nation. It averages 83.3 points from 53.5% shooting. They have a guard in Jerian Grant who can definitely stick with the tandem of Rodriguez and McClellan.

But the Irish is likely to be a much bigger favorite than they should and the Hurricanes are hot after beating Duke on the road.

College Hoops Parlay Pick: Miami Florida Hurricanes

Matchup: No. 8 Utah Utes at No. 10 Arizona Wildcats
Date: Jan. 17, 2015
Start Time: 2:00 p.m. ET
Location: Tucson, Arizona
Stadium: McKale Center
TV Info: PAC12
Stream: CollegeSportsLive
Radio:  Utah Vs Arizona

Analysis: This might be the game of the week. Utah averages 75.8 points from over 50% shooting while the Utes hold opponents to 55 points from 36.4% shooting. Arizona averages 75 points per game from over 49% shooting while holding opponents to 59.6 points from 39% shooting.

The Wildcats were absolutely horrible versus Oregon State, which is why they lost straight up 56 to 58, but AZ is almost automatic at home. The Wildcats have gone 6 and 3 ATS in their home games this season. Utah is 1-0-1 against the spread on the road so far this season and face Arizona State on the road before this Saturday game.

It’s tough to go against Arizona in Tucson. The Wildcats’ Kaleb Tarczewski scored 4 points against Oregon State, Stanley Johnson scored 7 against the Beavers and Brandon Ashley scored 5. Those are three starters that were held under their averages in the Oregon State loss.

It’s doubtful that happens this Saturday against Utah.

College Hoops Parlay Pick: Arizona
