Saturday’s College Basketball Parlay Picks

Now that the Super Bowl is over, it’s time for me to get serious about the second best sport on which to make wagers, college hoops. I write about the 3 teams that are in my Saturday College Basketball Parlay for Feb. 13. Don’t forget to check out the 6-Team College Hoops Bonus Parlay at the end of the article.

College Basketkball 2-Team Parlay Pick

  • No. 18 Purdue over Michigan
  • No. 7 Virginia over Duke

No. 18 Purdue at Michigan
When: Saturday, Feb. 13 at 2:00 pm ET

Analysis: Purdue played extremely well in last Saturday’s marquee matchup against No. 2 ranked Maryland. The Boilermakers stretched Maryland the entire game. They finally lost to the better Terrapins 72 to 61. Purdue’s issue was that it only shot 12% from three. Purdue usually shoots 35% from three. The Boilermakers, mainly due to center A.J. Hammons, shoot 46% from the field.

Michigan goes into their Feb. 10 game versus Minnesota off of 2 losses. Indiana drubbed the Wolverines 80 to 67. Michigan State blitzed the Wolverines 89 to 73. Michigan just isn’t on the same level as teams like Indiana, Michigan State, Maryland and Purdue without Caris Levert. They might beat Minnesota on Feb. 10. College hoops handicappers shouldn’t be fooled. I think that Purdue covers as a slight 1 to 2 point road favorite versus Michigan on Saturday.

Pick: Purdue

No. 7 Virginia at Duke
When: Saturday, Feb. 13 at 4:30 pm ET

Analysis: You have to give Duke props for turning it around. After losing 4 out of 5, Duke has now won 3 in a row. The Blue Devils beat Georgia Tech 80 to 71 on Feb. 2. They beat North Carolina State 88 to 80 on Feb. 6. They beat Louisville 72 to 65 on Feb. 8.

But on Feb. 13, the Dookies play the best team in the ACC. Although North Carolina still gets the love, Virginia has become the toughest team to beat in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Cavaliers are on a 6 game winning streak not counting their Feb. 9 game against Virginia Tech. Virginia held three of their opponents during the streak to 50 points or less:  Louisville scored 47, Boston College scored 47 and Pitt scored 50. Virginia beat those 3 opponents in their last 3 games before the Virginia Tech bow.

This young Duke team is going to have an awfully difficult time keeping Virginia from beating them on the money line. Virginia goes into Duke and wins straight up.

Pick: Virginia

College Basketkball 3-Team Parlay Pick

  • No. 18 Purdue over Michigan
  • No. 7 Virginia over Duke
  • Georgetown over No. 20 Providence

Georgetown at No. 20 Providence
When: Saturday, Jan.13 at 12:00 pm ET

Analysis: Right when everybody started believing in Providence, the Friars decided to start playing bad basketball. Going into their Feb. 10 game versus Marquette, the Friars have lost 2 in a row. The 60 to 72 loss to Villanova on Feb. 6 is understandable. The Wildcats are the top team in college basketball. But losing 70 to 77 to DePaul, one of the worst teams in the Big East, is unforgivable.

Providence did beat Georgetown 73 to 69 the first time that these 2 teams met. Georgetown just beat St. John’s 92 to 67 on Feb. 8. They get the rest of the week off until the Saturday battle versus the Friars. Georgetown is a tough team. They should win the battle against the spread as a +5 to +6 dog.

Pick: Georgetown
