Bet The No. 9 seeded St. Joseph’s Hawks Because…
St. Joseph’s is hot. The Hawks won the Atlantic 10 Tournament by beating George Washington 86 to 80, Dayton 82 to 79 and VCU, who also won on Friday, 87 to 74 in the Atlantic 10 Championship game. The 78 to 76 win over Cincinnati was impressive because St. Joe’s shot worse than the Bearcats. The Hawks were 48.3% from the field and 37.5% from three. Cincinnati was 50.9% from the field and 41.7% from three. When you can win a game even though you have fewer possessions and are even an on rebound, which is what St. Joe’s did versus Cincinnati, you’ve done a good job.
Bet The No. 1 seeded Oregon Ducks Because…
Oregon’s defense has been absolutely awesome lately. In the Pac 12 Championship game last week, Oregon held the Utah Utes to 57 points. Versus the Holy Cross Crusaders in Round 1, Oregon allowed only 52 points. It’s Virginia like to be able to hold 2 teams to less than 60 points in a 2 games in a row. That’s what Oregon has done. It’s going to be interesting to see if St. Joe’s has any success against the Ducks defense on Sunday.
Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
Oregon allows teams to shoot a decent percentage from the field. Utah shot 43.2% from the field in the Pac 12 Championship. But, Oregon had almost 20 more shots from the field than Utah had in that game. Oregon shot 22 three-pointers. Utah shot 16. Oregon takes a lot more shots than their opponents do, which leads to the Ducks hitting more of those shots.
That’s the biggest problem that St. Joe’s is going to have in this battle. If St. Joe’s allows Oregon to get more possessions and to shoot more than they do, the Hawks could get creamed. St. Joe’s figures to have a lot of problems on Sunday dealing with Oregon’s speed. The Ducks should roll in Round 2.
