Thursday Night College Basketball Betting Advice
The wheels haven’t just fallen off Cincinnati’s bandwagon, they’ve exploded on the highway sending hardened, rubber shrapnel all over the damn place. The Bearcats have picked up too tough losses against Louisville and UConn recently, and are just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games. They tend to be a stronger bet at home, but I just can’t encourage them while I’m giving out college basketball betting advice. They’re in a bad slump.
Memphis tossed their name in the ring of the Big East with a rousing 72-66 win over Louisville that nobody saw coming. That game could be a serious outlier considering that the Tigers are 7-3 SU and 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games overall but I’m willing to back them in this one. Memphis has been an awful road bet in general this season, but they’re starting to make some noise. This is going to be an interesting game as both teams try to jockey for position heading in to the always exciting Big East tournament, but Cincinnati seems like wounded prey. That’s why I prefer Memphis in this one.
Xavier had a chance to really endear itself to the college basketball betting universe after defeating Creighton over the weekend, but instead followed up that upset with a heartbreaking loss against Seton Hall. The Musketeers have been an emphatic home bet at 11-4 ATS this season, but a lot of that has to do with the state of the Big East Conference which hasn’t been that great as compared to years past.
And no team has been more valuable in terms of college basketball betting than Villanova. My advice with this unheralded team has been simple: grind them until the stone stops bleeding. Villanova has bounced back from a rough loss against Creighton, which started a three-game losing streak against the spread, but are coming off two dominant wins against Marquette and Butler. This team is done messing around and Xavier is going to feel the brunt of their wrath on Thursday night in front of their own fans.
Any and all excitement about the Hawkeyes was incinerated over the last few weeks. Iowa has fallen in to the gutter when it comes to college basketball betting with a horrifying 2-5 ATS run that’s included just three straight up victories. They tend to hold value as a road play, but I also think that this is shaping up to be one of those "it’s how you finish" college seasons in general.
Which means that there’s now way I can lean against Michigan State despite a harrowing home loss to Illinois last weekend. The Spartans simply have too much talent to be this bad and while their bandwagon remains populated out of sheer loyalty, it’s just impossible to believe that an team coached by Tom Izzo would lay down heading down the stretch. The Spartans will get a fair line in this one, and I implore you to approach it with caution, but if you’re asking for my college basketball betting advice then take the Spartans as mild home favorites. This team is too good to end this season in such a manner.
