Must Bet College Basketball Picks Feb 18 – 24
#13 Villanova at Georgetown
When: Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 6:30 pm ET
Where: Capital One Arena, Washington, D.C.
Analysis: One of the classic rivalries in college basketball takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 20 when defending national champion Villanova heads to D.C. to take on the tough Georgetown Hoyas.
Nova couldn’t get past St. John’s on Sunday, falling 65-71 to the Red Storm as a 4-point road favorite. The Wildcats are 17-9 ATS overall. On the road, they’ve gone an excellent 6-2 ATS. They’ll be favored over the Hoyas, who just aren’t at Villanova’s level anymore.
Georgetown has lost two in a row straight up: 69-73 to Butler, and 75-90 to Seton Hall. They have a losing 9-15-1 ATS record overall. At home, they’re a bad 4-10-1 ATS. Nova wins and covers.
Auburn at #5 Kentucky
When: Saturday, Feb. 23 at 1:30 pm ET
Where: Rupp Arena, Lexington, KY
Analysis: Auburn turned around a 2-game losing streak with a nice 64-53 win over Vanderbilt in their last. What’s really impressive is how the Tigers covered on the road as a -9 favorite. Now, Auburn battles the best team in the SEC, the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday.
The Wildcats easily handled then #1 Tennessee 86-69 as a -3.5 home favorite in their last. UK must battle Missouri on Feb. 19. That’s okay because Auburn must take on Arkansas this week before heading to Rupp Arena.
Save for a loss to LSU, Kentucky’s been unbeatable. The Wildcats should easily handle Auburn on Feb. 23. They’ll win and cover no matter the spread.
#11 Michigan State at #6 Michigan
When: Saturday, Feb. 24 at 3:45 pm ET
Where: Crisler Center, Ann Arbor, MI
Analysis: The top game this weekend is Michigan State at Michigan. The Wolverines have a tenuous 2-game lead in the Big Ten over the Spartans. That might not matter all that much because whoever wins the Big Ten regular-season title must still show up in the Big Ten Tournament.
These two last played in March of 2018. The two teams, as you might expect, are much different now than they were in that game. Michigan seemed like the better team for much of the season until Michigan State really turned it on.
The Spartans are 3-0 in their last 3 both straight up and against the spread. They have a solid 7-3 ATS record while Michigan is only 8-8 ATS at home. Sparty takes it.
Pick: Michigan State
