The Favorite To Win The NCAA Championship: Villanova +390/Duke +410

Both Villanova and Duke opened the tournament as Las Vegas betting favorites to be crowned national champions. Both teams have cruised to double-digit wins in both of their two tournament games. Villanova next faces 5th-seed West Virginia while Duke faces 11th-seed Syracuse. Should you bet on either right now to win the championship?

Villanova is steamrolling opponents with 3-point shooting and defense. In their double-digit wins over Radford and Alabama, the top-seeded Wildcats made a combined 31 three-pointers. That is the second most over a two-game stretch in March Madness history.

Duke has overwhelmed opponents with size and talent, but won’t have the luck of facing teams like Iona and Rhode Island moving forward. If Coach K can keep his squad motivated after two easy opponents, this team will get to the Final Four without missing a step.

The Smart Pick To Win The NCAA Championship: Michigan +925

All cards on the table. I picked Michigan to win the NCAA championship in one of my March Madness brackets. So far suffocating defense and a whole lot of luck have carried the day for the third-seeded Wolverines. Head coach John Beilein has a few days to figure out why his team isn’t scoring or it is light’s out.

Michigan was held to below one point per possession in both NCAA tournament games. That’s the first time since January they’ve done that in back-to-back games, so let’s hope they bounce back in the Sweet Sixteen. Compounding the Wolverines woes is their 3-point shooting after going 13-for-46 from 3-point range in their last two.

Moe Wager has led the team in scoring all season with 14.2-points per game but has averaged 8.5 points on just 15 combined shots in the tournament’s two games.

The Favorite To Win The NCAA Championship: Syracuse/Loyola-Chicago +12500

Two 11-seeds remain. Syracuse and Loyola Chicago have defied the odds to make it to the Sweet Sixteen. But should you bet on either to win the NCAA title?

Syracuse got to the Sweet Sixteen because of defense. They will get to the Elite Eight only if the Orange guards start shooting a bit better. They will have to shoot better than 35% from the field and the dismal 12.5% they shot from 3-point land against the Spartans.

The Ramblers of Loyola-Chicago have been beating the odds in the NCAA tournament just like they played all season long. With defense. The underdog held their first two tournament opponents, Miami and Tennessee, to 62 points apiece, right at their season average (which ranked fifth in Division I).
