Today they face the fourth-seeded and 8.5-point favorite Louisville Cardinals who were bounced out of the ACC Tournament in the quarterfinals by the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The UC Irvine Anteaters finished the season with a 21-12 record, 16-11-3 against the spread, but lost the three games they played against teams invited to the 2015’s March Madness. Senior forward Will Davis II (12.9 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 1.0 APG) and sophomore Luke Nelson (10.5 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 4.0 APG) lead the team in scoring. The Anteaters score 67.9 points per game (166 th ), shooting 46.1% from the field (61 st ) and adding 14.2 assists per game (65 th ). Their defense allows 62.3 PPG (73 rd ) while his team records 35.4 rebounds per game (118 th ).
"This is really satisfying, and exciting for our program and the UCI community to have this experience," Coach Russell Turner said. "Our players have all been recruited here to leave a mark on the community, and we did that."
The Louisville Cardinals couldn’t win the ACC tournament, losing to North Carolina in the ACC quarterfinals. The team posted a 24-8 record on the season, 12-18-1 against the spread and 4-7 against teams that entered this year’s tournament. The Cards average 69.2 points per game (130th), 11.7 assists per game (251st), shooting 42.9% from the field (211th); led by sophomore guard Terry Rozier (17.1 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 2.8 APG) and junior forward Montrezl Harrell (15.7 PPG, 9.5 RPG, 1.3 APG). Their defense allows 59.5 PPG (23rd) and the team grabs 38.2 rebounds (22nd).
“We’re real happy about being out in Seattle,” Louisville coach Rick Pitino said after the selection. “We wanted to get away. This team needs to get away from family and friends. They were distracted at home with all the fanfare. It’s good that we’re away. We’re excited about it.”
