Northern Iowa Will Cover the Spread If
Northern Iowa can shoot as well in this game as they did in the last versus Wichita St.
The Panthers were brilliant in the last matchup between these two teams. As a 2 point home dog, Northern Iowa dominated the Shockers from the outset in that game. They ended up beating Wichita State 70 to 54.
Northern Iowa took down the Shockers by shooting lights out. The Panthers were good on 24 out of 40 shots from the field for 60%. It was an awesome display. From behind the three-point line, Northern Iowa was even more impressive. The Panthers took only 7 shots from behind the arc. They made 5 of those for 71.4%. What it shows is that Northern Iowa was patient in taking the three in the first game. If the Panthers can shoot that well in this matchup, they should have no trouble covering the spread since they figure to be a road dog.

Wichita State Will Cover the Spread If
The Shockers can shoot better from both the field and from the three-point line.
Northern Iowa outscored Wichita State by only 3 points, 33 to 30, in the second half of the first matchup between these two. If the Shockers had made more shots from the field and more shots from behind the arc, they might have turned the tables on their top rival in the Missouri Valley Conference.

But, Wichita State didn’t make those shots. The Shockers’ fans had to have been dumbfounded by how badly their team shot during the first game with the Panthers. Wichita State usually averages 44.7% from the field. In the first game against Northern Iowa, they shot 35.4%. The Shockers usually shoot 37.3% from behind the arc. Versus Northern Iowa in that first game, Wichita State shot only 20.8% from three-point land. If Wichita State has any hopes of covering the spread as a likely home favorite against their rival, the Shockers are going to have to shoot much better from both the field as well as from behind the three-point line.
