Why Bet The Virginia Cavaliers
The Cavaliers have dropped two straight and a discouraging four of their last six games overall. Virginia comes into this huge matchup off a humbling 65-55 home loss to Duke on Wednesday night.
Virginia entered the game leading the ACC in shooting (49%), but was limited to just 37 percent shooting and 20 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Guard London Perrantes led the Cavaliers with 14 points on 4 of 11 shooting.
"That’s a credit to Duke, they really guarded us hard," Cavaliers head coach Tony Bennett said. "We had to work to get all of our catches. I thought we had decent shots for the most part and thought we just had trouble finishing when we got to the rim which makes it hard. That was a good defensive Duke team tonight."
Why Bet The North Carolina Tar Heels
North Carolina has won three of their last five games and comes into this matchup off a convincing 97-73 blowout win over North Carolina State on Wednesday as their big men dominated inside.
Joel Berry scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Tar Heels to their second convincing win of the season over NC State. Carolina outscored their conference rivals 60-22 in the paint and won the rebounding battle 41-25.
"Being able to get the ball inside and to rebound the way we did was the biggest factor," Tar Heels coach Roy Williams said.
"They just beat us on the backboards," N.C. State coach Mark Gottfried said. "We tried to take some things away from them, but their rebounding was too much."
Kennedy Meeks had 17 points, Justin Jackson added 14 points and sophomore Luke Maye chipped in a career-high 13 points in the win.
UVA Vs UNC Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
I really like Virginia and their nationally-ranked No.1 defense (55.5 ppg), but if you saw the Cavaliers loss against Duke a couple of nights ago, then you know that Virginia is one of the most offensively-challenged teams in the country.
Having said that, I’m also thinking North Carolina is finally ready to start playing their best basketball of the season after getting smacked around by both, Miami and Duke recently.
Not only are the Tar Heels explosive offensively in ranking sixth in scoring (87.7 ppg), but the Heels are huge on their front line and simply need to play to their strengths like they did in their last contest against NC State.
Virginia is desperate, but they don’t have enough offensive weapons to keep up with Carolina. The Tar Heels win by 10.
My final score prediction is North Carolina 77 Virginia 67
