Villanova Will Cover the Spread If
Villanova plays as well against Creighton as they did in the last game.
For some reason, the Wildcats aren’t being talked about as a potential number one seed in the NCAA Tournament. That’s ridiculous because they are the hottest team in college basketball outside of Kentucky.

Villanova hasn’t lost since January 19. They’ve won 10 games in a row and have gone 10 and 0 against the spread in those 10 games. In their last battle versus the Blue Jays, on January 25, Villanova beat Creighton 71 to 50 by holding the Blue Jays to 37.3% from the field, 19 out of 51, and 19% from behind the three-point line, 4 out of 21. Villanova also forced 19 Creighton turnovers and held the Blue Jays to a terrible 9 assists. On offense, the Wildcats shot 44% from the field and an incredible 46% from behind the arc.
Creighton Will Cover the Spread If
The Blue Jays can play better defense against Villanova.
Creighon won the rebounding war in the first game. The Blue Jays out rebounded the Wildcats by 8, 33 to 25. It was a very good display as Creighton grabbed 8 offensive boards to Villanova’s 6. The Blue Jays also grabbed 25 defensive boards to Villanova’s 18.

The problem that Creighton has had all season long, though, is that they only shoot 41% from the field while their opponents shoot 43.7% from the field. Grabbing more rebounds, which Creighton does in almost every game, doesn’t help if, which was the case in the first matchup between these two, your opponent is taking more shots and hitting more shots.
Villanova took 56 shots in the first game versus Creighton. The Blue Jays have no shot of keeping the second game close if ‘Nova hits at 44% again from the field. If Creighton can’t defend the three-point line, if the Wildcats hit 46% from behind the arc, ‘Nova will roll to an easy win again. Creighton simply has to out rebound Villanova, like they did in the first game, but play better defense as well in order to cover the spread.
