Villanova and Marquette will go head-to-head in Milwaukee in a rematch of their February 4th tilt where the Wildcats crushed the Golden Eagles by a score of 70-52 at the Wells Fargo Center. Nova guards Ryan Arcidiacono and Darrun Hilliard put up 18 and 12 points respectively helping the Wildcats to cover the colossal 14-point spread.
"I thought that really affected our spirit, missing those," Marquette coach Steve Wojciechowski said. "We don’t have the depth and experience of guys who’ve been in it. It appears, based on tonight, our psyche is fragile right now."
Marquette has uncharacteristically stumbled all season and is just 10-12 with less than a month left. A 2-8 record in the BIG EAST hasn’t helped either. Leading scorer Matt Carlino hasn’t played since suffering a concussion in Villanova’s 70-52 win in Philadelphia. All signs point to Carlino not dressing and if that happens then the Golden Eagles could be looking at another double-digit defeat, especially with the way Villanova has looked lately.
Villanova’s Projected Starting Lineup: JayVaughn Pinkston (F), Daniel Ochefu (F), Darrun Hilliard II (G), Dylan Ennis (G) Ryan Arcidiacono (G).
Marquette’s Projected Starting Lineup: Luke Fischer (C), Juan Anderson (F) Derrick Wilson (G) JaJuan Johnson (G) Duane Wilson (G).
