Why Bet The No. 2 Villanova Wildcats At -2.5
Villanova can play any style of basketball. How good are the Wildcats to be able to slow it down against Kansas and win a 64 to 59 game? In the battle before, on Thursday night in the Sweet 16, Villanova ran Miami out of the building for a 92 to 69 win. In Round 2, Villanova dominated 87 to 68. The Wildcats beat UNCA 86 to 56 in Round 1. Villanova’s flexibility, they can run with Oklahoma or play a half-court game, might give them the edge in this Final Four Semi-Final.
Why Bet The No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners At +2.5
Oklahoma has become a talented defensive team. The expectation was that if Oklahoma were to make it to the Final Four that they’d have to outscore every team via their offense. That didn’t happen against Oregon on Saturday in the Elite Eight. The Sooners held the Ducks to 68 points. The Sooners held Oregon to 38.9% from the field and 19% from three. Oregon usually averages 78.7 points per game from 46.7% shooting from the field and over 34% shooting from three.

This should be a close game. Villanova is the pick because their defense is better than Oklahoma’s. But, the Sooners have shown a willingness to play defense during this tournament.
My guess is that this is going to be a half-court game with Villanova getting the better of Oklahoma on the inside with center Daniel Ochefu. The problem that Oklahoma is going to have is that Villanova’s players can guard every one of Oklahoma’s players, including the great Buddy Hield, straight up.
Nova switches as well as any team in the nation, meaning that Josh Hart and Ryan Arcidiacono won’t have to fight through screens in order to make sure Hield doesn’t have a huge day. Oklahoma will keep it close but Villanova should win.
