Bet The #5 Xavier Musketeers Because…
At 21 and 3 straight up, Xavier has proven to be one of the top teams in one of the best conferences this season, the Big East. Sure, Creighton drilled Xavier 70 to 56 in Xavier’s last, but the Musketeers weren’t themselves. Usually, Xavier is the one beating up on opponents, not the one getting beat up. In the last battle with Butler, Xavier thumped the Bulldogs 88 to 69. The Musketeers held the Bulldogs to 38.7% shooting from the field.
Bet The Butler Bulldogs Because…
Butler has won its last 3 in impressive fashion. The Bulldogs had gone 2 and 4 in their last 6 before February started. Since February started, Butler has played like one of the best teams in the nation. The Bulldogs beat Georgetown 87 to 76 as a -4 point home favorite on Feb. 2. On Feb. 6, they dominated St. John’s 89 to 56. In their last game, on Feb. 10, Butler manhandled Seton Hall 81 to 75 in a big road win. The Bulldogs are on fire. They may be the team that nobody in the Big East wants to face at this time.
Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
Butler is playing much too well to lose to Xavier on Saturday. Although Xavier has the better straight up record, it’s Butler who appears to be peaking at the right time. Both teams will make the NCAA Tournament. A Butler win over Xavier should secure its spot, no questions asked.
The Bulldogs shot 52% from the field and 42.9% from three against Georgetown, a team with a great defense. Seton Hall’s defense isn’t that bad either. Butler destroyed it with 55.8% shooting from the field and 50% shooting from three. I’m backing Butler, probably big, to beat Xavier on Saturday.
