This Week’s Men’s College Basketball Games to Wager

Yesterday, when I was writing this post, it was exactly one month from the NCAA Basketball’s 2015 Selection Sunday and that means it is the official kickoff for the most scientific made-up sports word ever:

Which teams are in line to be the top 4? Well there are Kentucky, Virginia, Wisconsin, Duke as the favorites and following them up are Gonzaga, Villanova, Kansas, Arizona and Utah. Any Bracketologist who says otherwise is trying too hard.

But with still a month away from March Madness, let’s take a look at this week’s best college basketball games to bet on.

Enjoy the madness.

This Week’s Men’s NCAA BB Games To Bet On

Matchup: (8) Kansas Jayhawks at (15) West Virginia Mountaineers
Date: Feb. 16, 2015
Start Time: 9:00 p.m. ET
Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Stadium: WVU Coliseum
Stream: WatchESPN
Radio:  Kansas Vs West Virginia
Point Spread: Kansas Jayhawks -1.5

Add Saturday’s convincing double digit win over Baylor and Kansas has won a stunning 21 consecutive home games and this week they go against the Mountaineers of West Virginia. But the Jayhawks bread and butter has been their ability to win on the road, and this season, Kansas is the only team with a winning road record (4-2) in Big 12 play.

The West Virginia Mountaineers won’t be an easy contest. WVU lost 79-59 at Iowa State on Saturday and need to win this game if they want to remain in the rankings. The Mountaineers have averaged a league-best 10.3 steals a game with their pressing defense, and the Jayhawks, who average 12 turnovers a game, have struggled against full-court pressure.

Matchup: (12) North Carolina Tar Heels at (4) Duke Blue Devils
Date: Feb. 18, 2015
Start Time: 9:30 p.m. ET
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Stadium: Cameron Indoor Stadium
Stream: WatchESPN
Radio: North Carolina Vs Duke

North Carolina lost at Pittsburgh by a score of 89-76 on Saturday. It was the team’s first game since the death of the iconic coach Dean Smith. But the Tar Heels have been struggling for the past few weeks and they will enter the Tobacco Road rivalry tile against the Duke Blue Devils with one win in their last four games.

The Blue Devils are winners of five straight including Saturday’s 80-72 victory at Syracuse, a streak that was sparked by the the dismissal of the junior guard Rasheed Sulaimon. Co-incidence?

Matchup: (14) Iowa State Cyclones at (21) Oklahoma State Cowboys
Date: Feb. 18, 2015
Start Time: 9:00 p.m. ET
Location: Stillwater, Oklahoma
Stadium: Gallagher-Iba Arena
Stream: WatchESPN
Radio:  Iowa State Vs  Oklahoma State

How could Oklahoma State win three straight Big 12 games against ranked teams and then lose 70-55 to bottom-feeding Texas Christian on Saturday? I don’t get it.

Can the Cowboys get their mojo back against another ranked team? They face the Iowa State Cyclones, who defeated the aforementioned West Virginia Mountaineers by 20 points on Saturday.

Wednesday’s game will feature the Big 12’s best offense in Iowa State who is averaging 77.6 points a game in conference play. They will face the best defense in Oklahoma State’s squad who allow a meager 61.5 points a game.

Matchup: Temple Owls at (25) SMU Mustangs
Date: Feb. 19, 2015
Start Time: 7:00 p.m. ET
Location: Dallas, Texas
Stadium: Moody Coliseum
TV Info: ESPN 2
Stream: WatchESPN
Radio:  Temple Vs SMU

Can Temple make up ground in the ACC in their two games this week? The Owls face Southern Methodist and Tulsa, the only two teams they trail in the conference standings. The Owls have won seven games in a row and are making up ground fast after a three-game skid in January that included losses to S.M.U. and Tulsa.

With ESPN’s "College GameDay" at Moody Coliseum, SMU defeated the defending national champion UConn Huskies by a stunning score of 73-55 on Saturday. Expect the Mustangs to continue their strong play against Temple.

Matchup: (3) Gonzaga Bulldogs at Saint Mary’s Gaels
Date: Feb. 21, 2015
Start Time: 10:00 p.m. ET
Location: Moraga, California
Stadium: McKeon Pavilion
TV Info: ESPN 2
Stream: WatchESPN
Radio: Gonzaga Vs  Saint Mary’s

Gonzaga gets a chance to widen the gap with this rematch agaist Saint Mary’s. On Jan. 22, the Bulldogs launched a 22-2 run late in the game and stunned the Gaels by a score of 68-47.

Gonzaga defeated Pepperdine by a score of 56-48 on Saturday. St. Mary’s is coming off a 69-62 double-OT win at San Diego on Saturday and the Gaels will play Portland on Thursday.
