Wisconsin Will Cover the Spread If
Wisconsin shoots lights out like the last time they played the Nittany Lions.
In the last game between these two, which occurred on the final day of 2014, Wisconsin was as good from the field and behind the three-point line as possible. Wisconsin was unreal shooting the ball in that matchup. The Badgers shot 63.8% from the field. They made 30 out of 47 shots. From behind the three-point line, the Badgers were incredibly efficient. Wisconsin made 6 out of 13 three-pointers. That’s 46.2%. Wisconsin also drained 23 out of 28 free throws.

It’s almost impossible to keep the game close versus Wisconsin when the Badgers are shooting that well. The score ended up 89 to 72 and Penn State covered the spread, but the shooting display was so awesome that the game was over midway through the second half. If Wisconsin shoots like that again, they should cover the spread.
Penn State Will Cover the Spread If
The Nittany Lions can play some defense.
Penn State actually covered the spread in the last game between these two by 2 points. The betting line ended up Wisconsin -19. Penn State lost by 17, 89 to 72. But, if I’m Penn State, I’m probably not hanging my hat on a 17 point loss.

The betting spread should be less than 19 points in this game since the Badgers travel to Penn State to take on the Nittany Lions. Penn State has to play better defense in order to have any shot of covering the spreads against the Badgers in the rematch. Penn State shot 53.7% from the field in the first game, and that’s terrific, but they allowed Wisconsin to shoot over 60% from the field against them. That’s well over the Nittany Lions average allowed from the field of 40%. Penn State usually allows teams to only shoot 32% from behind the arc. They’ll have to improve in that area as well in the rematch.
If Penn State can hold Wisconsin closer to their averages allowed from the field and from the three-point line, they might be able to cover the spread in this game.
