Maybe it’s me, but I’m wondering how the nine-win Georgia Bulldogs are touchdown favorites over a nine-win Louisville Cardinals team that actually comes into the 2014 Belk Bowl as the hotter team.

No matter, the oddsmakers’ miscalculation on this point spread can easily work in your favor if you play the Cardinals to cover.

Georgia has been wildly inconsistent all season long, beating teams like Missouri (34-0) and Auburn (34-7) but then turning around and losing to mediocre programs like Florida (38-20).

Along the way, the Bulldogs lost star running back Todd Gurley for his role in the latest autograph selling drama and just couldn’t get the commanding performance or two they so desperately needed from quarterback Hutson Mason this season.

Louisville lost former head coach Charlie Strong and starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater – and never missed a beat as oft-embattled head coach Bobby Petrino returned to keep the team in the mix for a national championship.

While the Cardinals have a modest offense that could stand some upgrades at the skill positions moving forward, I love Louisville’s seventh-ranked defense and I believe they’re going to keep Gurley and backup Nick Chubb mostly in check while forcing Hutson Mason into at least one costly turnover en route to the easy ATS cover and outright win to cap off their season with a four-game winning streak.

Belk Bowl Expert Pick: Louisville +7

Foster Farms Bowl
Maryland Terrapines vs Stanford Cardinal
Date: Dec. 30, 2014
Start Time: 3 p.m. ET
Location: Santa Clara, California
Stadium: Levis Stadium
Stream Info: WatchESPN.com
Radio:  Maryland Vs  Stanford
Point Spread: Stanford -13
Game Total: 49

Okay, I’ll admit that early this season, I thought the Stanford Cardinal could be a legitimate national championship title contender. O course, that was before I found out how offensively-challenged they were.

Still, I like the Cardinal to handle the Maryland Terrapins in this contest, mostly because the Terps often can’t stop running water on defense and Stanford enters this matchup having topped the 30-point plateau in each of its last two games and has an absolutely voracious defense.

Stanford ranks fifth in the nation in defense and second in points allowed (16.0) and while the Cardinal rank just 89th in scoring (25.7 ppg) they should have plenty of chances to put points on the board against a Maryland defense that gave up 28.9 points per game this season (82nd) and one that gave up 52 points against both, Ohio State and Wisconsin, not to mention the 41 points they allowed Rutgers to put on the board.

I’m going with underrated quarterback Kevin Hogan to lead the Stanford Cardinal to victory and the ‘super-narrow’ ATS cover, although I’m going on record to say that Hogan had better avoid Maryland’s gifted defensive back Will Likely.

Foster Farms Bowl Expert Pick: Stanford -13
