2014 NCAAF Odds to Win the Big Ten ConferenceNoah Williams
Although the Big Ten has a reputation as being a weak conference, this year’s Big Ten looks extremely competitive. There are two teams that appear capable of garnering a spot in the College Football Playoffs, Ohio State and Michigan State.
Only one of the teams will make it to the Big Ten Championship, though, because both play in the Big Ten – East. Who will win between Ohio State and Michigan State and who wins the Big Ten – West?
2014 NCAAF Odds to Win the Big Ten
Ohio State -105
The schedule isn’t too difficult, but the Buckeyes do have to play Sparty on the road. That could end up being their undoing in the conference.
The Cornhuskers haven’t been nearly as effective in the Big Ten as many thought they would when they first joined the conference. Their key game is against Wisconsin and the guess here is that they’re going to lose.

The Badgers averaged 200+ yards per game rushing last season. This is one heck of a football team that could be even better in 2014 than it was in 2013.
Michigan State +350
How good can Sparty be? They have a huge advantage over Ohio State because they get the Buckeyes in their stadium. The game versus Oregon in Week 2 will gives a great idea as to how they’ll match up against Ohio State and how far Michigan State can go this season.
The program isn’t any better than it was when Rich Rodriguez took it over about 4 years ago. Michigan needs to get back to playing smash mouth; Michigan football and this team won’t do that.

This team will have a decent shot to make some noise in the Big Ten – West. If Wisconsin or Nebraska can’t get it done, Iowa will.
They’ll be a huge also-ran in the Big Ten this season.
Northwestern usually produces a competitive team. A Big Ten Championship probably isn’t in the cards, but some nice victories ATS as a dog should be.
They are just an awful team. Like many squads in the ACC, Indiana is primarily a basketball school.
They have no shot in the Big Ten. The program really has no direction at this point.
The Boilermakers could cause some issues for a few squads with their spread offense, but those issues will most likely happen in the first half before adjustments are made.

Good move joining the Big Ten and snubbing the ACC. There’s more money in the Big Ten. But, a championship? No chance.
Rutgers pulled a Maryland to pick up more dollars in the Big Ten. The Rutgers program was good a few years ago, but it’s gone back to its traditional, losing ways.
Big Ten Championship Game: Michigan State vs. Wisconsin
Both teams could be undefeated by the time that the Big Ten Championship rolls around if MSU beats Oregon and the Badgers beat LSU. The winner of this contest could very well find itself in the College Football Playoffs.
Wisconsin has the easier road because they don’t have to play Ohio State. The Spartans do get to play Ohio State at home, though, and that’s why they get the nod. In a contest between the two, Michigan State is the team to look to win. Their defense will be one of the best in the country.
Pick: Michigan State Spartans
