2015 CFB Week 1 Parlay Betting Pick

The 2015 College Football betting season will kick-off in just over a week. Here is my first CFB three-team parlay pick of the new season:

  • Penn State -5 Points Over The Temple Owls
  • Wisconsin +13 Points Over Alabama
  • Florida State -33.5 Points Over Texas State

A Closer Look At My 2015 College Football Week 1 Parlay Betting Pick

Penn State Nittany Lions at Temple Owls
Date: Saturday September 4, 2015
Start Time: 3:30 PM ET
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Stadium: Lincoln Financial Field
Spread: Penn State -5
Game Total: N/A
TV Info: ESPN
Stream: Watch ESPN

The Penn State Nittany Lions (6-6-1 ATS) posted a modest 7-6 SU mark in 2014 in head coach James Franklin’s first season in Happy Valley, but I believe they’re going to be significantly better in 2015.

The Temple Owls went 6-6 SU and ATS last season to bounce back nicely from their horrific 2013 campaign to finish sixth in the AAC, but the fact of the matter is that the Owls are facing an uphill battle against a Nittany Lions team whose backups could probably all start at Temple.

Penn State has a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate in gifted quarterback Christian Hackenberg and will undoubtedly want to get their 2015 season started off on the right foot by winning their season opener.

The Nittany Lions gave up just 18.6 points per game a year ago and will win this one thanks to a stellar outing by Hackenberg first and foremost.

Parlay Penn State at -5 Points

Wisconsin Badgers at Alabama Crimson Tide
Date: Saturday September 4, 2015
Start Time: 8:00 PM ET
Location: Arlington, TX
Stadium: AT&T Stadium
Spread: Alabama -13
Game Total: N/A
TV Info: ABC
Stream: Watch ESPN

The Alabama Crimson Tide will have to replace starting quarterback Blake Sims and although they had another fantastic recruiting class, I think the Tide are facing a tall task in taking down the Wisconsin Badgers by 14 points in this Week 1 opener.

The Badgers may have lost starting running back Melvin Gordon to the NFL, but if you haven’t seen backup Corey Clement, then you’re in for a huge surprise this season from the former New Jersey high school superstar.

I expect Wisconsin to run the ball with Clement first and foremost while turning this contest into a fairly low-scoring affair that they could very well win outright.

While Alabama limited their opponents to just 18.4 points per game last season, the Badgers were almost as good in keeping their opponents off the scoreboard, allowing just 20.1 points per game defensively. Wisconsin easily covers the spread in this 2015 regular season opener.

Parlay Wisconsin +13 Points

Florida State Seminoles at Texas State Bobcats
Date: Saturday September 4, 2015
Start Time: 8:00 PM ET
Location: Tallahassee, FL
Stadium: Doak Campbell Stadium
Spread: Florida State -33.5
Game Total: N/A
TV Info: ESPN News
Stream: Watch ESPN

Residing just minutes away from Texas State, I know the gridiron program at the tiny school is no more a match for the mighty Florida State Seminoles than a bunch of 10-year-olds going up against LeBron James, which, not surprisingly, is why the point spread for this matchup is so high.

The Bobcats (7-5 SU) did average 33.8 points per game last season while managing to record a fantastic 9-3 ATS mark, but the Bobcats also allowed a whopping 30.4 points per game defensively and just don’t have the talent level to keep up with an elite football program like Florida State’s.

I guess it’s possible that the ‘Noles could fail to cover the huge spread, particularly seeing as how they’re going to have a new starter at quarterback, but again, the bottom line here is that Florida State’s third-stringers could all likely start for Texas State, making this Week 1 pairing more of a mismatch than a matchup.

Parlay Florida State -33.5 Points
