Bet on Clemson at +6.5 To Beat Bama Because…

Clemson’s defense was brilliant in the Tigers’ CFP Semifinal win over Ohio State. As a +1.5 dog, the Tigers’ D dominated what was considered the third best team in college football. Oho State averaged 459.2 yards of offense this season. The Buckeyes averaged 39.4 points this season. What did Clemson’s defense do to Ohio State’s offense in their 31 to 0 CFP win?  Clemson held Ohio State to a total of 215 yards. The yardage was made up of 88 rushing yards and 127 passing yards.

The Tigers have won five of their six bowls as underdogs, including the impressive blowout of Ohio State on Saturday. Clemson was as much as a 3.5-point underdog to the Buckeyes in December, but money flowed in on the Tigers leading up to kickoff, shrinking the line to Ohio State minus-1 at some sportsbooks.

Bet on Alabama at -6.5 To Beat Clemson Because…

The Crimson Tide defense should be able to shut down Clemson’s rushing attack. Alabama’s defense allows 62.4 rushing yards per game. Unless the Tigers can rush the football, Alabama’s defensive backs are going to sit in a zone and just tee-off on Clemson’s receivers.

Heading into the championship game, Alabama has been favored in 96 of its past 97 games. The Crimson Tide were consensus one-point underdogs at Georgia on Oct. 3, 2015. They won that game 38-10.

Alabama Vs Clemson Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction

Clemson is motivated to beat Alabama. I don’t think it’s going to matter much. Motivation is one thing. Scoring points versus one of the best defenses to ever play is another. Alabama’s defense is so great because after the first couple of series in a game, the defense adjusts. It can do that because the Tide has speedy players at every position on D.

Clemson’s only shot is if QB DeShaun Watson takes control of the game. Watson is going to have to use his feet in this one. But Alabama’s defensive line is so great, and their linebackers are so swift, that it’s hard to see Watson getting out of the pocket. In fact, it’s hard to see Clemson’s offense having much luck, if any, versus the Alabama defense.

It certainly doesn’t appear as if Clemson’s offense will be able to keep up with Alabama’s offense. The Tigers’ D was terrific versus Ohio State’s offense. But, Alabama’s offense is better. Ohio State got to beat up on bad defenses in the Big Ten.

Alabama put up points against some good defenses in the SEC.  Clemson’s defensive line could get pushed around in this game. I like Alabama to cover the spread.

My final score prediction is Alabama 31, Clemson 20.
