Why Bet The Florida Gators to beat the Crimson Tide
The Gators got smacked around in their humbling 31-13 loss to in-sate rival Florida State last Saturday while never coming close to covering the spread as an 8.5-point road underdog.
Florida wet 0-for-12 on third downs while allowing Florida State to go 11-for-17 in the same situations. For the season, quarterback Austin Appleby has completed a solid 60 percent of his passes with six touchdowns and two interceptions since filling in for injured starter Luke Del Rio.
Florida averages a modest 24.1 points per game to rank 104th nationally in scoring, but the Gators also rank a stupendous sixth nationally in total defense (291.9 ypg) while also ranking fourth against the pass (158.0 ypg) and fifth in points allowed (4.6 ppg).
Why Bet Alabama To Beat The Gators
Alabama pulled away from pesky Auburn last Saturday to record a nice 30-12 win over the Tigers despite failing to cover the college football betting line as a 20.5-point favorite.
True freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 27 of 36 passes with two touchdowns and overcame two interceptions while rushing for 37 yards and one score. For the season, Hurts has been phenomenal in completing a blistering 65.9 percent of his passes while throwing 21 TD passes and just nine interceptions.
Alabama is ranked 22nd nationally in total offense (479.5 ypg) and an encouraging 19th in scoring (39.4 ypg). While the Tide don’t have a Heisman trophy-caliber running back on this year’s team, they still run the ball well in ranking 13th nationally in rushing (248.3 ypg).
More importantly, the Crimson Tide have the nation’s stingiest defense as they limit the opposition to just 11.4 points per game while also ranking first against the run (69.1 ypg) and first in total defense 247.2 ypg.
Alabama Vs Florida ATS Pick & Final Score Prediction
60 percent of the betting public likes Florida to cover the spread as 24-point underdogs, but I don’t simply because the Gators can’t score the ball consistently and will have huge trouble getting in the end zone against the Tide.
I know the Gators are 6-1 ATS in their last seven neutral site games and 5-2-1 ATS spread following an SU loss, but Alabama is 5-1 ATS in their last half-dozen SEC games, 12-4 ATS in their L/16 games against a team with a winning record and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. Last but not least, Alabama is 9-2-1 ATS in their last dozen games against Florida.
The Tide manhandle the offensively-challenged Gators to win going away.
