FSU vs Wake Forest Odds & Pick

Alabama Vs Florida State Line & Pick

College football is back with a bang as the third-ranked Florida State Seminoles face the top ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. This game could very well decide the College Football Playoff and the first week of the season is still in progress.

Never before as a team ranked No. 1 played against a team ranked as high as No. 3 in the first weekend of the season.

The Las Vegas college football oddsmakers have Alabama as a 7.5-point favorite to beat Florida State. The game total is 49.5. Kick-off is this Saturday, September 2nd at 8:00 PM ET on ABC from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Crimson Tide are 10-0 in openers under head coach Nick Saban. Will Bama cover the spread against FSU, who are 7-0 under head coach Jimbo Fisher in openers?

Why Bet The Florida State Seminoles To Beat The Tide

Florida State has 15 starters returning this year from a team that finished last year with a five-game winning streak, capped off by a bowl upset of Michigan. Included in the returning crop is sophomore quarterback Deondre Francois. The sophomore QB will have a bigger playbook from the opening game this season. Francois is an early Heisman Trophy candidate and is looking to shine after throwing for 3350 yards, 20 touchdowns with seven interceptions in his freshman year.

"I have to focus on my strengths and don’t forget about them just to get my weaknesses up," said Francois.

The Seminoles can also match Alabama’s talent on defense. Florida State has nine returning starters on defense that should improve after allowing 25 points per game last season. Also returning is safety Derwin James who missed most of the 2016 season with a knee injury.

The Seminoles are not often college football betting underdogs, but when they are, they’re dangerous. Over the last couple of seasons, FSU is 2-2 SU and 3-0-1 ATS when getting points on the spread.

Why Bet The Alabama Crimson Tide To Beat The Seminoles

Alabama is a perfect 10-0 straight up and 9-1 against the spread in season openers under Saban. But can they keep up with FSU with only 11 starters returning this season?

"It’s a challenge to get your team ready to play anybody, but obviously when you play a really good team, they present a lot of challenges," Saban said. "The positive side of that is that the players are more into it. They’re more focused because they understand who they’re playing and have respect for the quality of they’re playing."

Six starters are back on offense, led by sophomore quarterback Jalen Hurts and three along the offensive line. An additional five starters are back from a defense that held foes to just 261.8 yards and 13.0 points per game last season.

Alabama was 11-3 in the last 14 games in Atlanta with all of those games at the Georgia Dome.

If You Still Can’t Decide Who To Bet On:

  • Seminoles are 4-1 ATS in their last five games as an underdog.
  • Seminoles are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
  • Crimson Tide is 7-3 ATS in their last ten games as a favorite.
  • Crimson Tide is 7-3 ATS in their last ten games overall.

Expert ATS Pick & Final Score Prediction

I can’t see Alabama losing this game after losing the National Title game in their last outing. The Tide will not win this game with their usual crushing dominance, but they will cover the spread.
