Bet on Alabama (-8.5) Because…

Alabama’s defense has been as good as any defense in the SEC. The Crimson Tide has played games where offenses have scored points against the D. Ole Miss scored 43 in a 48 to 43 Alabama road win on Sept. 17. Arkansas scored 30 in a 49 to 30 Alabama win on Oct. 8.  But the D has been rock solid in its 2 last games. It held Tennessee to only 10 points in a great 49 to 10 win over the Vols on Oct. 15. On Oct. 22, Alabama’s D held 4th-ranked Texas A&M to only 14 points in a 33 to 14 win.

Bet on LSU (+8.5) Because…

The Tigers have been unbelievably good in their last 3 games. LSU was on their way to a terrible season before the university fired Les Miles and put Ed Orgeron in charge. Since that time, LSU has been as solid as it gets. The LSU Tigers have gone 3-0 both straight up and against the spread in their last 3.

Free Pick & Final Score Prediction

As well as LSU has played, it’s hard for me to see the Tigers being close in this battle against the rival Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday. LSU’s biggest issue is at QB where junior Purdue transfer Danny Etling hasn’t excelled. Sure, he’s a huge step up from Brandon Harris, but he’s only completing a bit over 60% of his passes.

LSU’s offense is dedicated to rushing the football. The Tigers average 240 rushing yards per game. But that plays right into Alabama’s strength on defense. The Tide allows less than 71 rushing yards per game. That ranks one in college football.

LSU only averages 184 passing yards per. If that’s all you average via the pass, you can’t score enough points against Alabama for you to cover the spread. I think LSU’s defense plays tough. But the LSU offense won’t put enough points up in this matchup for it to remain close enough for the Tigers to cover the Week 10 college football line.

My final score prediction is Alabama 23, LSU 10.
