Why Bet The Arizona State Sun Devils To Beat The Arizona Wildcats
The Sun Devils have lost five straight games and enter this matchup coming off an embarrassing 44-18 blowout at the hands of No. 6 Washington last weekend.
Offensively, Arizona State is averaging a healthy 33.2 points per game to rank 44th nationally in scoring, but they’re also giving up a whopping 38.6 points per game defensively to rank a pitiful 119th in points allowed.
Quarterback Manny Wilkins has completed a solid 60.9 of his passes this season for 1,957 yards but has tossed eight interceptions to virtually cancel out his nine TD passes. Still, the Sun Devils rank a respectable 48th in passing, but their big problem on offense is that they haven’t been able to rush the ball very effectively by ranking 114th in rushing (132.9 ypg).
The Sun devils have also been victimized by a poor pass defense that ranks 128th nationally by giving up an insane 382.9 yards per game.
Why Bet The Arizona Wildcats To Beat The Arizona State Sun Devils
The Wildcats may be taking on a reeling opponent in this affair, but there’s a reason they’re not favored, even at home. Arizona has lost a whopping eight consecutive games and comes into this contest off a humbling 42-17 road loss against lowly Oregon State in which they never came close to covering the spread as a 3-point underdog.
The Wildcats average a modest 21.9 points per game to rank a discouraging 113th in scoring. Quarterback Brandon Dawkins has struggled mightily in completing just 54.6% of his passes for 1,271 yards with seven touchdowns and six interceptions.
Not only do the Wildcats have trouble scoring the ball, they also have an affinity for giving up points in droves as they allow a whopping 38.6 points per contest to rank a dismal 120th nationally in points allowed.
The Arizona defense has allowed at least 35 points in each of their eight straight losses while allowing at least 42 points in five of those games and a whopping 69 points in their Week 9 loss to now, No. 6 Washington.
Expert ATS Pick & Final Score Prediction
68 percent of the betting public likes Arizona State to get the win and ATS cover despite being on the road and I fully agree with those bettors seeing as how Arizona can’t score – or stop the opposition from scoring.
Arizona State has gone 4-1 ATS in their last five games in the month of November and 10-3 TS in their last 13 games after getting limited to 20 points or less in their previous game.
The Sun Devils are also 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a straight-up (SU) loss while also going 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record. Arizona is 0-7 ATS in their last seven conference games and 1-5 ATS in their last six home games.
Personally, I’m thinking the Wildcats and Sun Devils need to jettison their respective head coaches, but reports say that both, Rich Rodriguez and Todd Graham will be back next season, for better or worse.
Right now, there’s a whole lot more ‘worse’ for Arizona, making Arizona State the pick to win and cash in!
