No. 20 Stanford Looks to Stay Hot, Cover Big Spread Against Visiting California in Week 12 Conference Matchup
After recording a huge upset win last weekend to improve to 6-1 over their last seven games, No. 20 Stanford will look to stay hot when they host the Pac-12 rival California Golden Bears in week 12 on Saturday. Now, if you want to know whether the Cardinal can not only avoid the big upset, but cover the Week 12 NCAA football spread as huge, double-digit home favorites, let’s find out right now which team is offering the best value against their college football odds in this one.

NCAAF Odds: Stanford -16
California moved to within a game of becoming bowl eligible by laying an emphatic 37-23 beatdown on visiting Oregon State to cover the chalk as a 7-point favorite while snapping a two-game losing streak in the process. The Golden Bears got two touchdown passes from quarterback Ross Bowers and a stellar game out of running back Patrick Laird as he rushed for 214 yards and another score in the win. Defensively, Cal limited Oregon State quarterback Darrell Garretson to 169 passing yards with no touchdowns while also holding the Beavers to just 104 rushing yards.
Stanford picked up one of the biggest upset in Week 11 although it was overshadowed by losses from No. 1 Georgia ad No. 3 Notre Dame. The Cardinal upset previously ninth-ranked Washington 30-22 to both, kill the Huskies playoff hopes and cover the chalk as a 7-point home underdog. Star running back Bryce Love led the way to victory by rushing 30 times for 166 yards and three touchdowns and Stanford’s stout defense held Washington star quarterback Jake Browning without a touchdown pass in the upset win.
Now, the Cardinal will look to extend their seven-game winning streak in this series. Stanford has gone 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings against Cal and the Golden bears have given up at least 38 points in each of their last four losses while allowing 44 points or more in three of those defeats.
While a compelling 61 percent of public bettors are going with the Bears in this one, I like Stanford to narrowly cover the chalk behind another outstanding performance from Bryce Love, who should be getting more attention as a Heisman Trophy candidate for the outstanding season he’s had as he leads the nation in rushing coming into this contest.
Pick: Stanford -16
