Why Bet the Cincinnati Bearcats Line At +31.5
The Cincinnati Bearcats got past Austin Peay 26-14 in their opener this past weekend but they largely struggled to put away a team they shouldn’t have while never coming close to covering the spread as a mind-boggling 43-point home favorite. Quarterback Hayden Moore completed 17 of 28 passes for 151 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions to lead the way to victory while receivers Thomas Geddis and Kahlil Lewis combined for 89 receiving yards and two scores in the win. Defensively, linebacker Malik Clements was all over the field in recording a phenomenal 18 tackles, but the Bearcats allowed Austin Peay to mostly have their way on the ground by rushing for 224 yards.
“The total rushing yards is what bothers you," Cincinnati head coach Luke Fickell said. "I think the real thing, and no excuse, but when you look at the time of possession, we’ve got to do a better job, and I think that you saw them tire out a little bit.
Why Bet the Michigan Wolverines Line At -31.5
The Michigan Wolverines got past Florida in their 33-17 season-opening win on Saturday, but they also had some hiccups along the way, mostly passing the ball as quarterback Wilton Speight completed 11 of 25 passes for 181 yards with one touchdown but two interceptions. Still, the Wolverines manage to cover the spread as 4.5-point favorites because of their powerful rushing attack and outstanding defense. Running back Ty Isaac led the way with 114 rushing yards on 11 carries and wide receiver Tarik Black added two catches for 83 yards and one touchdown in the win. Defensively, linebacker Devin Bush recorded a team-high seven tackles.
“I knew there was a lot of talk about how we lost a bunch of guys to the league and lost a star player, so we came out today with a chip on our shoulder,” Bush said. “There are a bunch of great athletes on that team, so it was a good win.”
“Our defense was amazing today,” Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said.

While I wasn’t overly impressed with Michigan and starting quarterback Wilton Speight in their opener, I am going to advise you to back the Wolverines to beat and cover the spread against a Cincinnati team that looked really mediocre last week, even in winning.
The Bearcats are just 3-13 ATS in their last 16 non-conference games, 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games in the month of September while Michigan has gone 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in the month of September and will be looking to make more of an emphatic statement after their uneven performance against the Gators. I’m not real fond of the high spread, but I’m going to pick Michigan to narrowly cover it!
Pick: Michigan -31 Points
