Christmas week has a boat load of top tier bowl games for every college football fan including the Alamo, Peach and Cotton Bowls.
College Bowl Game Picks X-Mas Week
#24 Iowa State vs #13 Washington State
When: Friday, Dec. 28 at 9:00 pm ET
Where: Alamodome, San Antonio, TX
Odds: Washington State -3.5
Analysis: Washington State was two games away from making a strong case for a College Football Playoff berth. Instead of even playing on New Year’s Day, the Cougars must battle the Iowa State Cyclones at the Alamodome in the Alamo Bowl.
Washington State went 10-2 against the spread this season. In their last game, they didn’t look that great falling 15-28 to the rival Washington Huskies. Washington was very good at keeping the Cougars’ passing attack in check.
Washington State doesn’t run the ball well. When opponents can keep the passing game in check, they’re able to control the Cougars. Iowa State should be able to keep Washington State from throwing it all over the field. They’re the pick.
Alamo Bowl Pick: Iowa State
#10 Florida vs #7 Michigan
When: Saturday, Dec. 29 at 12:00 pm ET
Where: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, GA
Odds: Michigan -7
Analysis: Even before the 39-62 loss to Ohio State, the Michigan Wolverines had been just okay against the spread. Michigan went 6-6 this season. They went 0-3 ATS in their final 3 regular season games.
Michigan is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 on grass. The Florida Gators are only 1-4 against the spread in their last 5 at a neutral site, but they head into the Peach Bowl on a 2-game winning streak both SU and ATS.
Florida beat LSU and Mississippi State this season. They’re battle-tested and come into this hot while Michigan should still suffer the effects of the huge beat down they took when losing to the Buckeyes.
Peach Bowl Pick: Florida Gators
Cotton Bowl Classic
#3 Notre Dame vs #2 Clemson
When: Saturday, Dec. 29 at 4:00 pm ET
Where: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX
Odds: Clemson -12.5
Analysis: On paper, Clemson looks like the better team. However, there are a couple of reasons to take the points on Notre Dame. First, Notre Dame went 7-4 ATS this season and 3-1-1 against the spread in their final 5.
Second, Irish coach Brian Kelly’s a master at getting his team ready. Also, the Tigers played a soft ACC schedule while Notre Dame butt heads with some tough squads like Michigan, Northwestern, and Syracuse. Clemson might win, but they won’t cover.
Cotton Bowl Pick: Notre Dame
