College Football Christmas Week Bowling Season 5 Star Lock Picks

There are some really good matchups to exploit during Christmas Week’s College Football Bowl extravaganza. Below are three non-marquee bowls that have under aggressive spreads. That’s how I find lock picks.

The first game is the Sun Bowl where Miami will try and win out against Washington State before former Georgia man Mark Richt takes over. The second game has Pac 12 UCLA taking on Nebraska in the Foster Farms Bowl while the third lock pick happens in the Arizona Bowl where Nevada clashes with Colorado State.

A Closer Look At My College Football ? Week ? Season 5-? ? Picks

What: Hyundai Sun Bowl
Who: Miami (FL) Hurricanes (8-4) at Washington State Cougars (8-4)
When: Saturday December 26, 2015
Kickoff: 2:00 PM ET
Where: El Paso, TX
Stadium: Sun Bowl
Spread: Washington State -3
Moneyline: Miami (FL) +115 vs Washington State -145

Stream: CBS Sports
Listen: Miami vs Washington State

Analysis: Miami appeared to have turned it on at the end of the season. Starting with Miami’s non-win against Duke, a 30 to 27 referee debacle, the Hurricanes proceeded to finish out the season going 4 and 1. The lone loss was a doozy, though. The Canes dropped to North Carolina by a 59 to 21 score. What’s interesting is that Miami also only went 3 and 2 against the spread in those final 5 games.

Washington State was good all season long, even in their losses to California and Stanford, up until their final game. The Cougars went 8 and 1 in their final 9 games against the spread. The reason that Washington beat Washington State 45 to 10 in the Cougars’ final regular season game is because they were without starting QB Luke Falk. Falk should have no trouble suiting up for this. The Cougars roll.

Pick: Washington State

What: Foster Farms Bowl

Listen: UCLA vs Nebraska

Analysis: It was tough going for Nebraska first year coach, Mike Riley. Riley runs a pro-style offense. At Oregon State, Riley recruited players that could learn behind guys for 2 to 3 years. They were never going to be the best QBs in the nation, but they’d play better than well in the competitive Pac 12. This season, Riley got Tommy Armstrong who completed only 54.8% of his passes and threw only 21 touchdowns to 16 interceptions.

That’s in contrast to UCLA coach Jim Mora’s starting QB, freshman Josh Rosen. As a frosh, Rosen completed close to 60% of his passes. He threw 20 touchdowns to only 9 picks. His TD to interceptions ratio was 8 to 2 in the Bruins last 6 games. Rosen’s play should be the difference in this.

Pick: UCLA

Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl
What: Nevada WolfPack (6-6) at Colorado State Rams (7-5)
When: Tuesday, December 29, 2015
Kickoff: 7:30 PM ET

Spread: Colorado State -3

Listen: Nevada vs Colorado State

Analysis: It’s interesting that the spread went from Colorado State -3.5 to Colorado State -3 in the Arizona Bowl on Dec. 29. The Rams finished the season strong. Colorado State won its last 4 games. One of the wins was a 28 to 21 win over New Mexico, who beat Arizona ATS in the New Mexico Bowl last Saturday. Another win on the season was a 38 to 23 victory over Air Force as a +3.5 home dog. Colorado State held the Falcons to only 269 yards rushing, well below Air Force’s per game average. Nevada finished the season by losing 2 games in a row, one to Utah State and the other to San Diego State. Go with the Rams.

Pick: Colorado State
