The Florida State Seminoles and North Carolina State Wolfpack will both look to remain undefeated when they square off in a Week 5 ACC battle of unbeaten ballclubs.

College Football Odds & Predictions Preview FSU vs NC State
Florida State (3-0 SU, 0-3 ATS) is coming off a solid, but not overly impressive 23-17 Week 4 win over Clemson though the Seminoles failed to cover the spread as a 9.5-point favorite as starting quarterback Jameis Winston sat out or disciplinary reasons. With the win, Florida State managed to extend the country’s longest active winning streak to 19 games.
Backup quarterback Sean Maguire completed 21 of 30 passes for 305 yards and a touchdown, but nearly negated his performance with two costly interceptions. The Seminoles trailed 10-3 at halftime – the first time they faced a deficit of any margin in a dozen regular-season contests.
"The mental resolve of this football team, that’s why I love them," head coach Jimbo Fisher said. "They understand how to rally together, they understand how to pull together, and they understand how much they care for each other. I think they mentally got themselves back together."
"Great teams find a way to win and they have won 19 in a row for a reason," Tigers coach Dabo Swinney said of Fisher’s team.
Despite the victory, Florida State struggled with its rushing attack in a big way, gaining just 13 yards on 27 total carries with Maguire accounting for -46 rushing yards. The Seminoles will however, have Winston back on the field for this Week 5 showdown against undefeated North Carolina State.
Winston was suspended for the game for "offensive and vulgar" comments on campus last week.
"When he does spontaneous things he has to make better judgments," Fisher said Monday. "Jameis is not a bad individual. He makes poor decisions. He’s got to stop that."

N.C. State is looking to get off to their best start since current San Diego Chargers signal-caller Philip Rivers was leading the team. The Wolfpack haven’t gotten off to a 5-0 start since opening 9-0 back in 2002.
N.C. State (4-0 SU, 2-2 ATS) is coming off an emphatic 42-0 Week 4 shutout of Presbyterian that helped them narrowly cover the spread as a 40-point home favorite. Junior quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed 14 of 21 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Wolfpack to victory. The Florida transfer has 10 TD passes with one interception on the season.
Brissett also rushed five times for 22 yards and another touchdown in the win. Not only that, but N.C. State has also won five of its last seven home games against ranked Seminoles teams.
"It has no bearing to what happens in this game," coach Dave Doeren said. "It just shows that Carter-Finley is a great stadium. It’s a hard place to win."
Game Analysis: I like Florida State and all, but I don’t see them winning this Week 5 ACC battle by the 24 points it would take in order for them to cover the spread, even with Winston under center.
Sure, Florida State is 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record, but the Seminoles are also a discouraging 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games and a winless 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
North Carolina State has compiled an impressive 16-4-1 ATS mark in their last 21 home games against a team with a winning road record while also going 4-1 ATS in their last five games in the month of September.
Yes, I know the Wolfpack are just 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall, but N.C. State is also 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 meetings against Florida State while the Seminoles have gone 0-5-1 ATS in their last six road games against their ACC rivals.
Last but not least, the Underdog in this series is 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 meetings – and that leads me to believe the over-hyped Seminoles could be a=in a bit of trouble in this one!
My College Football Odds & Predictions: N.C. State +23 Points
If you like this pick, then you may also want to back Tennessee as a +18-point underdog on the road in their SEC showdown against Georgia.
